'SYMBOL' Changing BATTERY Empty 'SYMBOL' Changing BATTERY

'Symbol'  2006. Battery UNDER Driver's seat.   Have bought a new Battery and looked in all my 'manuals' but nothing  helps me change the Battery.  Can anyone advise me how to start, as it seems I might have to dismantle the Driver's chair to get at the Battery.  The front casing is held in place with 'velcro' so I can 'see' the Battery,  but the side casings do not move.  Seems likely that I have to get to the Battery from the top, hence dismantling the chair.  I'm sure one of you lovely people has done it before.  I'm a lady on her own and have nobody to help - so can you guide me.  A very big thankyou for any help.

I'm afraid the only way is to remove the seat. Do not try this on your own, they are very heavy. You can , as I did, remove three bolts, loosen the fourth and swivel the seat round to expose the battery. That way you don't have to actually lift the seat.

I am no expert but I did change the battery on ours last year. Ours does not have the swivel driver's seat that Paul's Symbol ES does. I believe it is the swivel seat that has to be removed in the ES. If your is like ours, with only a sliding driver's seat, then you just have to slide the driver's seat forward as far as possible. You will then have sufficent space to lift the old battery out, working from the back of the driver's seat.

Good luck

Yes Mike you are right, I was thinking of my Nuevo not my Symphony. The Symphony as you say should be a simple job of sliding the seat as far forward as it will go. Sorry for confusion.

I know this sounds very basic and probably teaching you to suck eggs but make sure all the electrics are switched off before you disconnect the battery and disconnect the earth lead first and then reconnect the earth last. The earth should be the negative?

UPDATE  An update on my Battery situation.   I had terrible problems finding someone to help me change the Leisure battery on my Boxer. So didn't get to change it in the end.  The temptation to go away for a few days to see if the original battery still in situe (which I thought I had killed) would hold up for a few hours when parked up for the evening watching the TV.  I took myself off to the New Forest and was amazed that I HAD NOT KILLED THE BATTERY.  It gave me TV to my hearts content on cold evenings and didn't show any impact on the Battery at all.  A normal 3 days away for me without Battery loss.  On my return I took the new untouched Battery back to the retailer and he gave me a full refund.  I would highly reccommend this place to buy your Batteries.  MANBAT of Guildford Surrey.  Thom was a great guy who was so helpful and accommodating.  If you live near Guildford - well worth a visit.  Mention that I sent you (no commission for me) and he will appreciate that word is getting around.  Thankyou to everyone on the forum who gave me lots of help.
