Hankook tyres
Have just bitten the bullet and bought a set of Hankook tyres for the Topaz.
The original set were showing significant micro cracking and as a lot of out trips involve
long distances at elevated speeds I thought it wise to change sooner than later.
The original tyres were Michelin Agilis M+S 215/65 R16C 106/104T (0508 manufacture)
The Hankook RA28 set are of identical specification and worked out over £80 cheaper than the Michelin.
Had our local McConechy's supply & fit them and a good job they did, all tyres are 48wk/14yr manufacture.
Just awaiting Hankook to come back to me with their recommended inflation pressure for the given axle loading I supplied (F 1520kg R 1320kg) The Michelin were F 46 R 40 so it will be interesting to compare, we went for the 6ply as my experience with our previous 'vans' lead me to appreciate the softer & quieter ride.
Note must try to avoid potholes and kerbs
Checked out Blackcircle and our man was about £10 cheaper for the set of Hankook's, and not 50 miles away in Ayr.

Re: Hankook tyres
The tyres that came with the new Wilton/Ford were Hankook. Not sure of the model but they were good tyres.

Re: Hankook tyres
Hi Fred
I replaced the worn down front tyres on my Nuevo with Hankook tyres, plenty of wear in them at 26000 miles, when i exchanged the van last August.
I have new Hankooks front tyres on my Sigma, replaced the worn down Continentals at 17000 miles.
Heading up your way in June Fred, hope the weathers good.

Re: Hankook tyres
My Topaz is in next week for new tyres, service and MOT. I have been offered a choice of makes but they pointed out that Hankook is O/E on new VW vans.

Re: Hankook tyres
The original tyres on our van were Hankook Ric and we changed them (on age) this time last year for more Hankooks. They had worn well, not noisey and performed ok on wet grass what more can you ask. They are a mid range tyre price wise

Hi Roger
Were/are yours RA18 8ply? mine are RA28 6ply for the reasons I stated above and yes they tick all the boxes for about 20% less cost but I think no lesser quality.
With tyres its always wise to get good tyres locally then if one does have any problems you can sort it out easily, also getting them re-torqued after the prescribed initial mileage is easier, mine are 180nm/130ftlbs, (above the setting for my 110ftlbs torque bar!)
Regards
Ricky
