Warwick XL - TV Mounting
Hi Everyone
Hopefully our Warwick XL is only about a month away, and I'm thinking out what TV to get, and where to mount it - So I have a few questions hopefully some fellow owners can help with
The aerial sockets are on the side of the wardrobe, facing the rear bench seats - so this is the obvious place to mount it (See pic below)
My questions are
Does AS supply a mounting bracket? I thought someone (It could have been the dealer) said that there was one supplied, but not fitted.
How wide is that cupboard side?
What size TV have you fitted?
John Lewis have 3 sizes of the Aztec models - and, of course, you get a free 5 year warranty!

Also most DVD drives are on the right hand side - can you still insert it if its mounted on the wall?
Cheers
Jools

Avtex L186DRS 18.5 inch. The DVD drive is on the right hand end of the screen as you look at it so it needs space on the right.

Hi Jools
We purchased a Symbol last year. It came with a plastic TV mounting bracket ready to mount.
However, I wasn't happy with the bulkiness of it so rather than mount the bracket I got a slimmer metal one from Vision Plus which is a lot neater and less obtrusive.
We purchased an Avtex 16" which we find is more than adequate size wise for the confines of a van conversion. Just make sure as said above that there is adequate room to insert the DVD and putting the TV into the bracket is not prevented by the overhead locker.
For interest Capital Outdoors ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]) are offering the 16" with free carry case and free delivery for £299.99
Regards
Hubert

Re: Warwick XL - TV Mounting
Avtex T as per other contributors fits perfectly on the wardrobe wall where all the sockets are.
dvd insertion no problem
can recommend j lewis ... 5 year warranty inc at same price as capital.
we travel with tv attached...never a problem
would caution you....A S aerial pretty poor...guess no problems if you have a satellite system or are on C Club sites where you have a tv hook up
in poor reception areas we use a portable avtex aerial...approx. £30 amazon....gives superb picture.

ps if you visit the caravan club site at strid wood in wharfedale yorkshire...fab location !! be aware that the site only receives analogue signals / reception...the new avtex tvs only work on digital....suggest scrabble , dominos or dvd...or even chat to your wife !!

Re: Warwick XL - TV Mounting
Hi Jools, we have had our XL for 10 months and love it after 4 months and 6500 miles usage-I hope you enjoy yours as much as we do ours.
Some comments on our XL TV experiences.....................
We have the 18.5 inch Avtex and it fits fine in the location you plan to use. The AS supplied bracket didn't impress me at all so I asked the dealer to fit a metal one that opened on an arm so we could view it from the front seat if we wanted- this turned out to be something that we haven't used and the bracket also needs to be secured so it doesn't swing out in transit so I would agree with the advice to just replace the AS plastic bracket with a better metal one and leave it in place whilst travelling.
Most of our travels have been abroad but we have found the status aerial to be fine in most places in the UK we have visited. The one odd thing is that when we have stayed in caravan club sites with TV aerial boosters on the power connection points it usually worked but on two occasions we found that the signal didn't work if connected to the outside van aerial point and would only work if the cable was connected straight to the TV.In both places the wardens told us this always happens on that site .............don't know the reason why but as you cannot open the side windows it means the cable must come through the rooflight which isn't straightforward.
Good luck with your van

Going off topic slightly:- regarding connection of on site aerials to the outside van aerial point, there have been a number of topics. I managed to find this one -

It seems that you need to connect the TV to the sat socket not the co-ax inside the van using an adaptor. Don't know if that solves the problem, always been happy with just the van aerial.
