Drive away awning.......
Hi,
Can someone suggest an easy to put up 'drive away' awning for a Boxer Symbol 2004 We are thinking of getting one but have no idea what look for regarding ease of erecting etc. It's mainly to be used for extra storage so doesn't have to be a big one.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Drive away awning.......
Have had a couple of Khyam awnings which came with motorhomes I bought,
Were quick and easy to put up. When I sold them on ebay had loads of people wanted them which shows they are popular.

If it's only for storage why not look at a utility tent such as an Outdoor Revolution or a Sunncamp. Doesn't attach but a lot less money.

Re: Drive away awning.......
I'm looking to get an awning, possibly a drive away one, for our Symphony, in the next few days. What are people's favourite awnings, and for any of you who've bought non driveaway, have you later regretted not getting a driveaway? Does anyone have an Outwell Country Road Tall?

Vango Kela standard or tall depending on vehicle = are good. Vango are also due to market
a new model that apparently falls between the two (in size) - due for release in the Autumn

Re: Drive away awning.......
Gave up on the drive-away awning as being too fiddly to return to after moving the van. Just had separate free standing tent and bridged the gap between van and tent with the wind-out Fiamma awning on the van.

Re: Drive away awning.......
I've done the same thing. There's nowhere to attach a drive-away to the wind-out so I didn't have a lot of choice really. I think my utility tent cost me around £50-60 so a big saving and a lot less hassle to park the van beside.

Re: Drive away awning.......
After much thought and taking into account a couple of suggestions we have decided to go down the 'utility tent' route as it seems to be an easy solution to our storage problem.
Thanks to everyone for suggestions etc!

We have a 2004 Symbol (Peugeot Boxer) with a Fiamma wind out awning and have never had problems with it.

Thanks troikafloyd,
Last question what width is your awning - I am considering a 2.6m awning.
Would that be correct.

Have just measured the width and it's 2.56m so I guess the same as you are considering.

Hi
I have a Boxer Symbol 2004 and have just bought the Vango airway Kela - Its brilliant and soooo easy to put up and take down. Some people have mentioned that its hard to get back in the bag but Ive had no problems. It comes with a sleeping tent.

Re: Drive away awning.......
Hi,
We also have a Vango Kela Standard for our trident and had trouble getting it bainto the bag the first time but ever since we make sure that the air is out of the tubes and no more problems...
We use one of those fabric strip thingys the slide in the slot on the Fiamma 45 then plastic strips to fit to the awning. As for lining up when returning to the awning we use two small off-cuts of lino which we peg against the wheels on the side opposite to the awning then simply drive in, carefully, so that the wheels are in the same place as before

Watching this thread with interest as i have posted exactly the same question for my 1994 Harmony. I like the idea of the tent instead, but do camp sites allow you to do this?

We used a utility tent and then later a small dome tent, never charged extra or questioned by site, as long as you keep it within your pitch but I always asked before using it.
