Drive away awning Empty Drive away awning

Having just got the T5 ..it doesn't have a fiamma pull out sun canopy as my old autosleeper did....so no rail to attach figure of 8 too. Any tips for attaching the awning to a T5 Hightop with no awning rail? Will purchase a canopy but funds are low after the van purchase.

Many Thanks

With my first camper there was no awning rail simple solution awning rope attached to piece that normally goes into the channel  with tennis ball attached throw over the van and peg down
Second solution you can buy a magnetic awning rail to put on the top of your van like this

Thank David . The magnetic one looks good . Just hope it’s strong enough for a windy night in South DEVON

I actually bought a rail from a camping shop and fixed it to a T4 camper I had many years ago. It worked well and served it's purpose. Things may have moved on now.

Why not look at a free standing outfit, there are many options available. If funds are tight, maybe look at a used one, there  are probably loads of attics full of them.

Perhaps even make a request on this forum for one, under the correct section of course.  Good luck with your quest.

Throw over straps? Considered this ourselves when we changed to the fairford as initially wasn’t sure the kela lll would fit. Rather than changing awning, this was our plan b.

Yes that's what I now have, you can attach it if required, but we have never felt the need. I bought a Kyham quick erect motordome, now 5years old and no problems, I can get it erected in under 3 mins and down again, even when wet which is usual!
