Shower Base unit in Duetto....replace/repair?
The Shower Base section in my Duetto has two minor cracks.....one in the floor base (see 2nd photo for close-up) and the other, less important and barely visible 2/3rds the way up the wheel arch section.
Replacing the Base section with a new one looks a relatively simple job (often means it isn't!). The 'cheap and simple quick fix' solution would be some Bathroom sealant but i'm not sure that would last very long, so am wondering if any owners out there have effected a similar repair using any of the various plastic bonding kits available such as this; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161291596182?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
or this; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121337149442?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Have looked around for my type of Shower base unit and cannot find one. As other Duetto owners will know, they are 'all in one' with the wheel arch moulded as one with the base.

Any thoughts/tips etc on this one....am sure some owners may have done a repair of some kind!

Shower Tray
Prior to taking ownership of our Autosleeper Symbol we had the cracked shower tray replaced and it took much longer than the experts reckoned. It seems that the tray runs right under the fitted loo stand which had to be removed as well. Might not be an easy job.
Good luck!

Blimey....£165?!!! Someone is 'avin a laff there! My double sized ceramic shower base cost way less than that! A MH one is just one piece of moulded GRP which costs pence to manufacture!!
Think i'll go down the DIY repair route!
That price is plain bonkers!!

Actually, & I hate to say it, but £165 aint too bad, we had a large vac-form machine & even that wouldn't pull something as big as that, & it cost us£28000 (30 years ago )& pulled 14Kw, something big enough to pull bits that big would be in the £100K era, then there's the cost of mould-tooling, again several thousands of pounds, on top of that, quantities, a few hundred? If that.Bulletguy wrote:Blimey....£165?!!! Someone is 'avin a laff there! My double sized ceramic shower base cost way less than that! Your 'domestic' ceramics etc. are bashed out by the thousands, & as we all know, the more more you make, the cheaper they are.
Personally, I'd snap it up while you can, they will become obsolete.
oops, sorry, mis-read you said it was grp, I wrongly assumed it was a vac-forming, dis-regard the above.

No idea what material it is if i'm honest....just assumed grp but may be wrong.
Yes i know part of the problem with MH spares is quantities/supply but in all honesty i still think 99.9% of the market prices are wildly and grossly over-priced.....and many parts are far from quality made either often being poorly made from plastic. As an example, last year i was searching for a replacement shower head as mine was cracked (they are just plastic). All were coming up at around the £25 mark.
Twenty five quid!!!
I buy replacement domestic shower heads for three quid!
I carried on scouring through Google until eventually i dropped on one........£12.50. And this was the identical make/model and colour to what other 'known' dealers were selling at double that price. This wasn't a huge company i bought it from either, just a small business somewhere in Scotland. If he can sell for 50% less than what all the 'big name known' dealers are selling at.....just how much are they raking in on each sale?

Eventually discovered the answer to my problem.
Creeping Crack Cure!

Certainly beats forking out £165 for a new base (which will eventually crack anyway!) plus all the mither of dismantling the entire bog unit just to get the damn thing in!!
