toilet for trooper
Hi we need to get a new loo in our Trooper, van is 20 years old and still runs like a dream but the loo has had it. A/S say you can't get one small enough to fit the designated cupboard any more, has anyone found a way round this? Can you make the cupboard bigger for instance?

Re: toilet for trooper
you either want the older type Thetford 335

or the Elsan 238 potty although I'm not sure these are made now as most seem to be out of stock

Hi there,
Maximum dimensions might help us search for you.
Here's a small Thetford that would have me sat with my knees behind my ears; assuming that I could ever get down there!

Re: toilet for trooper
current toilet is 32cm wide, 35 cm high, 31 cm high and just fits into the designated cupboard, so I suspect the Thetford 335 is just a tad too big.

Re: toilet for trooper
the 335 and the elsan 238 will fit 100% , I've had both in tridents and troopers.
Not to be confused with the newer 335 qube , these are bigger and won't fit.

Re: toilet for trooper
Well the handle on the front snapped but we fixed that with a metal plate, otherwise things aren't too bad but I emptied it the other day and it was just so scuzzy and yucky inside (and I'm not at all squeamish). I understand you're not supposed to put bleach in them but I don't know what else would clean up that kind of grunge so I thought maybe after 20 years of use it was time for a new one - didn't realise it was going to be so difficult though.

Yeah you're right, I guess I just came indoors from emptying it covered in water from trying to hose it out and with that chemical smell in my nostrils and I thought I know let's get a new one. Our Huey is the same age as yours, the T4 was an amazing vehicle wasn't it.

Re: toilet for trooper
hi. g again. you can get replacement seals for your loo no problem.when fitting spray them with vegetable oil or olive oil,if yours are fairly new just spray with said oil.this rejuvinenates the seals a treat.i use the oil on all rubber seals.it can be bought in aerosol sprays in most supermarkets. g.

Re: toilet for trooper
Hi,
I have just joined the forum as have bought a T4 Trooper,
..I'm really pleased to find this thread as mine hasn't got a toilet in at the moment and am trying to find one small enough to fit in the cupboard. Seems to be loads of really useful info on here.
Thanks

Re: toilet for trooper
Hi. I have bought a trooper vw t4 year 2000. and need help. It seems that under the bonnet is two car batteries. One must have been used as a habitation battery but it's not working as the cab lights etc don't work on 12 v. It's defo not a leisure battery. I want to buy a new leisure battery but they are all too tall. The pollen air filter cover won't fit back on.
Any advise. Thanks. Jayne

Hi. Its best to start this thread on its own. Its nothing to do with Toilets.
How ever batteries come in all shapes and sizes. I am sure you can get one to fit.
regards
Mike
