Trooper bed
I am about to look at a trooper (2009) T5 44000 miles. The dealer says it doesn't have a bed in the roof but other listings say the Trooper does have. The dealer told me he thinks the beds can still be bought from A/S.
Any advice or clarification would be welcome - thank you for your help

Re: Trooper bed
Only thing I can think of PT is to phone the build number found in the front glove compartment to A/S at Willersey, someone there should be able to help. Fingers crossed as Mark is long gone.Pear Tree wrote:I am about to look at a trooper (2009) T5 44000 miles. Re: Trooper bed
I'm pretty sure that the roof bed was optional for at least some of production, but the situation with the Trooper is different from that with the fixed-roof models. As far as I'm aware there are no differences to the base conversion between one that left the factory with a roof bed and one without, so no modifications should be needed to retro-fit.
I don't think it's uncommon for vans to get sold with the original roof bed panels tucked away in a corner of the owner's loft (that's where ours are). But whether that's true of the one you are looking at, or whether it simply never had one, is pretty academic really!
Certainly it would be worth contacting A/S to see if they can supply one, but bear in mind that it's probably a decade since the Trooper was last made at the factory. I would expect a set to be very expensive if they are able to supply.

Re: Trooper bed
Before finding the bed, assuming you wish to use it, does the van have 4 belted seats, fwd facing, not sideways facing?

Re: Trooper bed
Worth mentioning, but a 2009 Trooper will have 4 forward-facing seats with inertia reel belts. The T4 based version even had the option for more forward-facing belted seats, though that made it almost impossible to move around inside!

Re: Trooper bed
Many thanks for your comments - I will let you know what I find after my viewing today. Out of interest they are asking £34000 for it - is that reasonable in these times?

Re: Trooper bed
Reasonable or not, it seems to be about what they are going for at the moment from the dealers.
Surprisingly, the post-2009 models don't seem to be priced at such a premium as they were not long ago, and one of those would be a fair bit more efficient than the 5-cylinder engined variants - but if you're not doing lots of miles that's probably not worth worrying about.
