Trooper elevating roof problem
I have an early T5 Trooper conversion with electric elevating roof.
The roof raises and lowers unevenly and sometimes sticks and has to be manually assisted in lowering it. This has resulted in one of the struts buckling slightly. I know the two power units are supposed to stop/start to even up the raising/lowering but sometimes one side stops and the other continues to operate. The roof does seem to operate better, although not perfectly, when the battery is full. The original roof on the vehicle failed within it's first year and a modified design fitted including beefed up struts used to lift the roof.
I see that the electric roof has been discontinued some time ago!
Any help please.

Re: Trooper elevating roof problem
I have heard of similar problems with an original VW California roof - though in that case the result was that the roof itself buckled and the whole thing had to be replaced!
This is probably one of those problems where A-S are not the best place to go for a resolution, as I don't think they made many with an electric roof (in fact to be honest I didn't realise they made ~any~ with an electric roof!).
In your position I would contact A-S and (assuming it was not retro-fitted after it was built) ask them who the original manufacturer was. I'd guess Reimo, but there may have been others. Then contact that manufacturer and find out where their nearest dealer/service centre is.

Agree with Mojo. As far as I know A/S didn't make a trooper with an electric elevator either. The early T5s most definitely had the solid side 'push up' elevating roofs. Only in the last few years of production did A/S fit a Reimo, manual, canvas rear hinged elevator.
Unless this was an A/S special, I don't expect A/S will be able to help. There should be some clues on the inside of the roof as to the manufacturer. You may then need to contact one of the specialised T5 convertors for some help.
Regards
John
