2003 Symbol Pump Winterisation

I have today drained down all the tanks etc on my symbol, the A.S.manual states that the water pump filter should be removed & flushed whilst draining the last dregs of water from the pump, the pump is very hard to get at as it's in the cupboard under the cooker & close to the hook-up isolator & battery charger, anyone have any tips or info for this job?, it looks like the panel holding the isolator may have to be removed.
