2003 Trident - Water Pump Empty 2003 Trident - Water Pump

Post by BazYoung Sat Apr 23, 2022 9:57 am

No water out of sink tap. Pump working, I can hear it running but it is not delivering water to the tap. The tank is full, I have removed the tap and sucked on the pipe but still no water? Help please.
PS Where is the pump located? Thank you in anticipation. BazYoung

As far as I'm aware, the pump on a Trooper or Trident is always in the same place - under a false floor in one of the cupboards to the left of the bed. You'll know which, because typically only one of them has a false floor - though it can sometimes need a bit of effort to lift (I had to use a car jack on our Trooper to press the side walls apart a tiny bit!).

The problem is ~probably~ due to an airlock, but there could also be frost damage to the pump if a small amount of water stayed in it over winter. It's not unknown for the filter - which is typically attached to the side of the pump - to split. If that happens, it can suck air in (it's on the inlet side to the pump) and therefore it won't prime itself.

Hi there.
The water pump is located in the bottom right hand cupboard, next to the fridge.
4 screws removed and its behind the back panel.

My 2002 Trident has a very noisy pump can anyone advise on where to find a replacement?

I had a crack in the filter housing (assume frost damage). This meant it was pumping air not water. Easy to replace.

Do you mean that it's noisy by Shurflo standards, or just noisy? Because IMO Shurflo pumps are - by their nature - noisier than most. And if they are noisy, that is more than likely because a previous owner or maintainer has pulled the pump too hard down onto its mounts. In my experience, the first thing you will notice as a Shurflo gets old is that it stops being able to prime itself over any great vertical distance.

Thanks after some googling looks like an accumulator should remedy the noisy s-lettering problem.

It may help, that's true. But please do check the pump mounts. If mounted correctly they are intended to only just be tightened to stop movement. After that, the more they are tightened, the more sound transfers to whatever they are mounted on.
