You might try, but chances are you'll be given a story about why you can't. The favourite recently seems to be that it's on a military base which the public can't access.

Of course, they will bring it to you if you pay them a deposit, in advance...

Incidentally, I recognise the photos in that advert as the ones from a similar advert several months ago.

I've heard nothing since asking to view!

Unless you or other motorhomers ie a local club or forum members know whos selling a motorhome it nearly makes you think that with all the ringing and stolen vehicles about that buying from a dealer is nearly a better option. Sometimes peace of mind is worth a few extra ££££. Cash buyers can always hammer a good deal out of the dealers as well who like to shift stock on without taking another Van in. Warranty also helps from dealers that your not buying one with damp etc.

GUTTED Stolen Harmony - Page 4 Empty Too Good to be True!

Post by Bonnieweejeannie Sun Apr 21, 2013 10:35 am

Have been to a dealer now for our first campervan and although we initially liked the VW Clubman GL there were none at the dealership so asked to be shown in detail a 2008 Fiat Bessacarr E435 (4 Berth) that had taken our fancy. Wonderfully roomy with easy to use instructions and facilities. Particularly liked the end kitchen layout.
However we are looking to pay less than £28750 so will need to look at an older model I guess.
Have spotted cheaper ones on CC site, all south of the border.
Can't wait to get out there touring but need to be dogged and sensible in our investigations of what we should buy.
We intend to tour the highlands of Scotland with our grandchildren using campsites and wild camping will be a must.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Jackie up!

My advice would include the word bargepole!!

PB

I've been reporting this as a scam to Ebay every day for a week now and it's still there. I asked to view but got no reply. Perhaps he's tried it before and knows my username on Ebay.

Me too Paul.
Even used different names and emails

It's possible that you are missing the fact that the thread was started in 2011, but people (including you) are still posting in the thread today.

Saw this resurrected and had a glance back through, which has been a learning experience - but does anyone know what happened about the original poster's Harmony?

Algy was the owner who posted originally.
He has a Clubman now.

Not sure what the eventual outcome was

I'm sure Algy will be along to confirm this but I believe Algy lost everything. The strange part I remember is that the original owner never claimed for theft off his insurance, presumably he got the vehicle back, whatever happened to the vehicle after that I have no idea.

I am so glad he managed to buy another van, thank you for the replies. Dreadful to think of that amount of money wasted. I wish the perpetrators a miserable future. And a lot of sensored1

This Rambler has appeared on Ebay 3 times now and each time it is removed it reappears the next day. To me it rings of the Harmony story. It's half the price of a dealer, it's location is shown as 'united kingdom' and it's cash on collection which makes me think it's not the usual scam but maybe a clone. I have sent an email to the seller asking location and why so cheap but got no reply. Perhaps someone else could ask to view and also for build number.

just found previous ad for this dated April 2013 when it was offered for £6900, still too cheap and it shows address as Mansfield (Northamptonshire?????)

also Ebay ad states taxed till May 2014 but checked on DVLA and its taxed till Oct 2014.

Hi , re reading this thread started by Algy.
I can think of a few additional things to do before purchase .Maybe missed by Algy.
1) See the receipt for the sellers purchase.
2)photo them and be sure that you have their home address.
3)check validity of v5 (log book ) at DVLA  0870 241 1878.
4) All logbooks should be red.( 400,000 old type were lost)
Because of the stress and amount of checking needed i usually buy from well/ long established dealers.

regards
Mike

The Rambler has been removed from Ebay for the third time. Something just doesn't ring true with it.
