Removing a fiamma soap dispenser
Hi again.
Had a strange smell in the van toilet today - managed to trace it to a Fiamma soap dispenser that have been stuck to the wall.
Its full of "something" that hasn't been used for a very long time - its brown and mouldy and generally horrid!
I had a look at it and can't see if it just stuck to the wall or screwed and can't work out if it is attached to a bracket and slides on/off
I have taken the top off but still nothing - dont want to just pull it off as the "wallpaper" under it is bubbled and when I try to waggle it gently can see all the paper lifting - probably going to need to put something in it's place to hid the bubbling paper.
Anyway, picture similar to the offending item is below if anyone has one and knows how it is fixed on and can be removed it, advice would be appreciated.
This motorhome lark is really something, up until yesterday DIY was alien to me - today I have been a motor mechanic, joiner, plumber, tv aerial repair man, electrician....

It looks like it fits onto a bracket fixed to the wall, the white bit in your photo, just under the chrome cap. I would try pushing it upwards to slide it off the bracket.RichardB wrote:

Yes, on closer inspection it looks like its been stuck to the wall with something like no more nails. I don't think it will come off without damaging the wall covering.
I'll have a look properly in daylight but might need to carefully take it off and then find something else to stick over where he wallpaper comes off - probably something like a cup holder

Re: Removing a fiamma soap dispenser
Hi RichardB,
Don't do anything drastic just yet.
When we bought our van some 4 years ago, I had a problem with soap leakage. At that time I was able to remove the clear plastic section that holds the soap leaving the 'chassis' still mounted to the wall.
PROBLEM, can't remember how, although it did involve sliding, tweaking, twisting or something.
I will try and get out to the van tomorrow and see if I can get a 'deja vue'.
Perhaps someone else will post the answer in the meantime.
Davy

Re: Removing a fiamma soap dispenser
well, RichardB,
As promised I went out to the van tonight and my soap dispenser is easily removed. It was on the van when we bought it, so I assume it is a Fiamma.
Remove the white cap/top with the little plastic screwdriver, (gentle 1/4 turn anti clockwise) this allows you to refill the soap container.
At the back of the clear soap container at the top you should see two white plastic pieces protruding above it. The left is recessed for the locking lug. the right one can be pushed back to allow the soap container to be removed for cleaning, slide the container upwards away from the chassis. Refitting is the reverse process.
Hope this helps.

Re: Removing a fiamma soap dispenser
Thanks - Yes, I see now how it clips on - although its very tight - I will have a better look at the weekend - I have ordered another one online and what I plan to do it remove the bottle (might need to use brute force on it) and hopefully it will not rip the lining paper and leave the bracket - that looks like it has been stuck on with mastic. Once off I will try and put a small screw in to to fasten to to the wall properly not just the lining paper and then try and inject some glue behind the paper (using a syringe with a very thin nozzle that I use for my other hobby of model railways) to stick the paper down.TeamRienza wrote:s promised I went out to the van tonight and my soap dispenser is easily removed. Re: Removing a fiamma soap dispenser
Bought a replacement and have figured out how it should come off - problem now is that it won't budge.
I'll give it a bit of light hammer treatment tomorrow and see if I can get it to slacken off a bit (hopefully without spilling mouldy shower gel all over the place!
