Re: soap dispenser
They have a little white plastic key that goes in the top, turn and it allows the top to come off. If you don't have the key then use a small bladed screwdriver.

And don't forget that most owners didn't use them as they always leaked due to pressure changes.
Incidentally, we have the same problem with our hand-soap dispenser we use in the kitchen area of the 'van.
Anyone have a remedy for this problem (apart from going back to slabs of Wright's Coal Tar ).

Assume you are talking about the Fiamma model dispenser. I have had 2 and done a rebuild also. If anyone finds or has one that works post please I need to get one

Re: soap dispenser
We have had two Fiamma ones in our Rienza. There was a bracket fitted when we bought it so to save leaving holes we bought one. The first one lasted four years. It kept blocking with soap going yuk in it. The plunger would stick in. Even flushing it out wouldn’t clear the old soap.
The new one has lasted a year so far and seems to work better with Lidl hand soap, possibly a bit thinner. We buy the same soap for the house.
Last year wasn’t much of a test due to lack of travel but next time it packs in I might look for an alternative

Re: soap dispenser
A further to my last. This has brought some thing to mind about soap. When we were kids dad used to hate soap we had left in the water making it a mushy mess. He bought a big long lump of soap and hung it over the sink on a bit of string.
No one had heard of soap on a rope at that time. Maybe that would be cheaper than a new Fiamma dispenser.

We've had our van 3 years now and I assume the soap dispenser is original and is now 11 years old. Its never leaked , always worked as it should.

Re: soap dispenser
Our soap dispenser leaked; we used to find a puddle of congealed soap on the side of the basin. I took it apart, cleaned it and replaced it for display purposes (rather than look at the ugly bracket or screw holes). Now we use a small bottle of supermarket hand soap instead.

Ours has worked faultlessly, maybe they are very sensitive to the consistency of soap used, we have always used the same type, chosen because I liked the bright purplely red colour !

It's the bottle of hand soap that leaks in ours.Slow-Lane wrote:Our soap dispenser leaked; we used to find a puddle of congealed soap on the side of the basin. Tried various ones in the shower cubicle and the kitchen area of the 'van, and all the same.

We had one on our last two vans spanning 15 years and never had a problem, we tend to buy Aldi / Liddle hand wash.

Re: soap dispenser
No leaks with the A-S soap dispensers using Pamolive Naturals liquid soap (Almond Milk) in our previous Duetto or the one I bought from A-S Parts in 2019 to mount in our Kemerton XL. I understand that A-S have none of these dispensers left so it's only the Fiamma one that's now available. If you are willing to pay silly money you might be able to buy the A-S soap dispenser that A-S used to fit from Italy.

Previous thread on this subject here:

As mentioned in one of my posts on that thread, AS had it listed in their parts list but had no stock left. I tracked down the manufacturer in Italy and found their price to be around half of what AS had been charging but adding on the shipping cost brought it back to around the same total cost.
One of the reasons for sticking with this rather than the much cheaper Fiamma was to save having to remove and replace the mounting bracket which was stuck on as well as screwed, so for me being able to attach the replacement dispenser to the old base was important.
Of course, since replacing the dispenser the van hasn't been used due to lockdown restrictions, it hasn't yet been charges with any liquid soap, so I can't yet confirm whether or not the new one leaks!
