bedding
where do people store their bedding? Maybe we are trying to carry too much bedding but we can't fit it all into the overhead locker in our Duetto. How have others solved this problem?

Re: bedding
Hi there,
All bedding fits into the front overseat locker in "Petal"; and there is bags of spare room for other items such as cycling helmets and shoes, red triangle, silver sun-screens, medication etc.
We carry two "three-seasons" sleeping bags and my good lady sewed up two double sheets to make two "inners".
The "inners" can be washed and dried in a day so we only need to carry two of them; and they keep the sleeping bags clean.
Remember, you are not camping in a tent and you have a heater if the nights get really cold; so there's no real need to carry heaps of bedding.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

Overhead space, two sleeping bags, pillows and memoryfoam toppers.
All fit but have to be rolled up tight first.

Re bedding
We store our double quilt plus topper and pillows in overcab locker. But as stated previous need to be rolled tight.

re bedding
Hi
Having looked at lots of newer motorhomes, I've noticed that some of them dont have overhead lockers. My 2004 Symbol has great overcab space and I have duvets, pillows, sleeping bags, towels, etc
How big is your overhead locker?
regards
Jane

Re: bedding
Hi Sue 68,
I can manage to pack into our Duetto's over cab locker,
1 summer king size quilt with cover on,
4 pillows with covers,
2 infill cushions,
2 folding chairs,
1 king size sheet,
I extra large fleece blanket (for little naps) for him not me..
1 small blanket,
1 umbrella (just in case)
I think that's all,
Good luck with the packing as already stated you need to roll everything as tightly as possible. Or invest in some of those vacuum bags....
Cheers Mrs JC

This gives plenty of room for normal bedding.
However we are not winter campers!!

Re: bedding
Hi all - we save a bit of space by using cushions as pillows at night with pillow case on the top one. Only takes a few seconds to put pillow case on.

I don't suppose you will have got to the "dribble when you sleep" stage yet!
Best regards,

Bedding
I may be a bit late to tag onto the end of this one but for what it's worth our overcab cupboard in Matilda, 1995 Duetto, holds three pillows, two quilts - a thin one and a medium one for maximum flexibility -, two sets of bedlinen, four towels, the fold-up legs for the outside table and an assortment of wine-carrier bags crammed into the back corner ready for use on the trip home. Works really well.

Re: bedding
We have had both a MK5 and currently a MK7 Duetto and all bedding has always lived folded on the bench seat when not in use. We use the van for about 5 months a year and never had any problems with this arrangement. Our 'bedding' consists of a double sleeping bag (quite thin) and a much thicker sleeping bag opened out to form a duvet in cooler weather. When not in use at night, the thicker bag is rolled-up and sits on the (reversed) front passenger seat (we normally sleep across the width of the van).Sue68 wrote:where do people store their bedding? Re: bedding
Having had two Duetto's and now a Topaz (after a Clubman) we wonder what all the fuss is about?
Cushions instead of pillows with covers on, in case of the dribbles,
(rectangular cushions are used in place of the Topaz settee backrest)
4.5 tog double duvets with flannelette covers, tightly rolled in 3rd seat locker with sleep-ware, clean clothing in individual boxes in overcab locker & van stuff and shoes, hook-up cable, fan heater and small toolbag, in o/s locker.
Strack of 6 small veg racks fixed to inside of wardrobe (shower side) to hold towels and other ancillary bits and bobs and coat-hangers on rail having at least two items of clothing on them!
As one downsizes you need to become creative and seek advice from those who have already trod that path. friends in Malvern in particular!!

Re: bedding
I have a much simpler solution...... - Owing to him indoors having moaned once too often about the thankfully few times he has ever been allowed to go away overnight in the van.
He is now BANNED and stays at home minding the 3 legged cat. Who also likes to watch wall to wall Sky sports and eat fish suppers.
So being a 'lone camper' and having had an utterly terrible first few years trying to sleep on every cheap/expensive/roll up/blow up/stuffed up/memory/cushion/double/single foam contraption the industry ever invented, I finally went to a bed shop in Sheffield and picked out a 2' 6" quite deep kids mattress. Fifty quid and a tenner to shorten it. Lovely blue with Chinese writing ( that probably doesn't say sleep tight! )
I decided to get one with depth - the kind that will not bend easily, especially at the edges. Because: I travel with the passenger seat dropped back and the seat behind it extended to make a single bed base along the passenger side. However this is a narrow base, the width of the seats - hence the need for a light but solid mattress.
Pop the mattress on top of the seat platform, add a Raskelf made to measure same size topper and leave the bed ready made up. Mattress was shortened to 6ft so that it did not foul the floor column gearchange.
With the driver's seat as an armchair, side seat for the legs after walks it's quite cosy. In the summer I can be in bed with the door open or chuck the whole lot into the awning.
Of course it only works if you've got no friends.......
