On our Symphony there is only one 240v striplight in the centre of the roof, it's a slightly different design to the others. All other lights run off the 12v leisure battery which when on hook-up is constantly charged by the zig charger.

When I am NOT on EHU all my lights work so does that mean none of them work off just off electric.

I would say yes, it sounds as if you don't have a mains-only light.

My layout is the same as Paul’s but assuming you have a power supply / battery charger fitted the 12V lights will run from that when on EHU so effectively they are all mains powered.

If you’re not sure if you have a working power supply why not just disconnect the leisure battery negative connection when the EHU is connected and see if the lights still work.

My 'handyman' is at the moment unable to walk (waiting for hip op) so unable to mess with the battery on my own. I think what I'll do, as I'm off next weekend in MOD, is watch my lights and if they start getting a bit dim will know that the battery is not being charged by EHU. Also I suppose the zig light should change from green to red. As I've only had this van from the beginning of the year so still learning about him and this site teaches me a lot.

i HOPE READ THIS POST ADIM. THIS IS WHY IT MUST NOT CLOSE. EVERYBODY LEARNS SO MUCH ON IT.  THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HARD WORK YOU MUST PUT IN.

Sounds like a plan allthumbz  but remember  if you have ,say,  two 16 Watt lamps and a 70 Amp hour battery and you are not using much other 12V equipment it’ll take some 20 to 30 hours ( ball park figure because figure because there are so many variables) continuous use before you are likely to see the lights dim noticeably.

You could get hold of a small meter and check every so often to see if the battery voltage is dropping.

I didn't realise that the battery lasted that long with the lights. On my old van they didn't. My MOD is a lot newer and in good nick so hope the battery is good as well. I think I will have to wait till the old man gets better and let him take the wire off the battery to check. Let you know how I get on at the weekend.

Went away the weekend with EHU. Put the electric on. Turned master switch on and the red light with charger came on. I now know the battery is being charged by the electric so my lights should last 'forever'. I feel a bit of a dummy but never realised this is what happens in a newer van. I certainly learn everyday.
Had a great weekend with the weather hot hot hot. hugegrins
