Re-Drive away awning
Hi mikeyval
How disappointing to have the air tube break on you.But the fix you have done will no doubt out live the rest of the pump.As you say they do seem flimsy, if ours goes I think I will use the electric air bed pump on elu.Just waiting for the weather to warm up and get out to use these new toys .

Hi Both - from a wet & damp Cheshire. Not impressed with the flimsy tube on the pump at. We have written to Vango but apart from the auto response saying they have received our communication we have not (so far) heard any more from them which is very annoying to say the least. Shame because the product is otherwise good and easy to put up - unlike the myriad of poles with other awnings

Hi All - since my post of the 26 February about the vango awning - I have to give a big thumbs up to vango customer services "Andrew" who apologised for not answering my original email, and dealt with the complaint immediately by sending me a brand new replacement air hose to replace the original that snapped off at first use.
I was asked by vango to inform Glossop Caravans where we bought it from, just in case there were any future issues - having done that Glossop Caravans have yet to respond.

Has anyone who has the vango awning found an easy way or a suggested better way to fold the awning up after use. We have tried twice but it ends up twice as big as the bag it is meant to go in. Thanks

Hi All
Well it's been a lovely dry day so we got the Vango Airbeam out. We put it up again no problem, easier second time. For packing it away the first time was a pain and it ended up to big to put back in the bag.
This time we tried packing it in a different way -here's what we did and (2 of us) and at the end it went straight into the bag
Laid out flat we turned the front in inwards to create a rough square.
Then we began folding it over from the side opposite the main air exit valves.
Continue folding / compressing until you reach the valves. Press it down to exclude air.
We then roll from the front end - towards the van end, continually compressing.
When rolled, hold to keep it compressed and slide into bag (2 person job)
Pull up the drawstring and then secure the adjustable bag straps -- Job done.
Have fun
Mikeyval

Hi mikeyval,
Glad you got your air hose sorted, and now have the packing under control, Caz has to do it on her own, and she finds by rolling it twice, ( once to expel the air, and a second time it fits the bag) that does it for her. It is a bit like a duvet though you never know if it's going to go back in lol... But they are a great space to have, did you get the fitted carpet as well, we did and it really nice.

Yes we got the carpet plus the kador strip plus delivery as an inclusive deal from Glossop Caravans. We are well pleased with this awning (no more poles) - we just tried to fit a double airbed into the bedroom but it was too big - although to be fair we are double checking the size of the airbed (it's not ours) as it did seem on the big side - so maybe it was a king size, not sure.
Does anyone using a Vango Sapera know what size airbed will fit inside the bedroom and lay flat as it should?

Mikeyval,   we got ours between Christmas and New Year from Glossop with the complete package also the sheet that goes underneath to protect the awning floor.
I thought the pump was iffy but touch wood on our trial erection all went well.
Regarding the bag, I thought it could have been a tad bigger so tried in the bag we use for the chairs - bingo much better and carpet went in with it. I rang Gardners at Wakefield to order an identical one which is more durable than the Vango one.

We also bought the kelway last Sept to take on our Nov 6 week Benidorm trip, We hade horrendous winds one day but with all the straps and fittings I managed to tie the awning down to our then Auto roller wing mirrors, the chassis and even to the site street lamp plus two olive trees. The vango airbeam  survived without any damage at all. I have also bought poles so that we can have the end flap up so that we can sit out side under shade.
The Airbeam is a great piece of kit, off to Benidorm in 7 days so will be taking the vango with us again, I removed the bedroom and use the whole of the space for dining and sitting.

How do you store the awning Paul, when your on the move? My van is similar sized to yours. I can't actually find any pics of the awning bag fully packed. I suspect the pack dimensions on the Vango splurge don't tell the whole story.

Hi journeyman, we store ours in the rear of our van I.e. Where the wash room used to be, (as we have pimped our duetto to suit our needs) this consists of 1x big bag (awning) 1x vango carpet (small bag) 1x air pump bag etc... You can get the awning a bit tighter than we have but we are just pleased getting it back in the bag lol....

Hopefully the photos below will be helpful.

Brilliant Paul, thank you so much. Don't need the Ultra Box now, which will save me £300.
I think we can work around the storage looking at your pictures.

Hi journeyman, glad it was of some help. We bought a black storage box off ebay, which we fastened to our bike rack, takes all our bits and bobs etc... Still able to use the back door cost around £30 - £40 you can see it on our web site [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

With a 3 week trip to Germany looming, I finally stumped up the cash and bought the Vango Kela Tall.

After lots of price checking, I bought online from John Cross in Sussex. I have a Defence Privilege Discount Card, & JC offers 10% for all purchases, which at a RRP of £379 is potentially a decent amount with over £30 off the purchase price. You can also get 10% from the company if your a paying member of Motorhome Fun…which i'm currently not. Additionally its free delivery. Anyway…all good, and excellent delivery process.

This weekend we went off to Tan House Farm CL at Frampton on Severn. Put the awning and and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful weekend, with a bit of extra space.

I'm not the world best tent erector, but this was quite easy and the "air beams" are very solid. The only issue is making the shroud, that joins to the van, fit snugly to the van exterior, lots of gaps for midges and rain to get in!! Maybe I can improve on that as we get practiced.

The packing away was no big issue, but there was two of us. The bag is quite heavy though and I certainly won't be using a box on the bike rack, for this item.

Overall very happy thus far.

Hi
journeyman you mentioned getting your kela to tuck in tidy around the sides .Helping daughter and hubby put up their awning one with poles that slide through well say helping more pointing and giving lots of encouragement ,and they have the elastic ladder type of straps that you can adjust to peg right to the floor they are very cheap and will really help to tighten the sides up neatly so I'm getting some for ours, hope this helps

Hi all
We have the Vango Sapera Tall model.
We'd like to sell, simply because it is too big what we need (been used once only) - and we would like to sell and buy the smaller Vango "Kela" tall model.

We'll sell the Sapera - complete with the Vango carpet and the Figure 8
connector strip as a package plus of course all the items that were supplied. Virtually as new condition.  Asking £550 for the lot -- anyone looking to buy will know the prices of all this I guess, but the whole lot was a tad under £690 - just 2/3 months ago

We may consider exchanging the Sapera for the Kela with cash difference
so if anyone knows anyone who may be interested, please give us a call.
Thanks for reading
Mike
