Fitting of awning
Hello everyone,
My first venture with A-S O F.
I`ve just purchased a 1998 Amethyst. 35,000 m and lovely condition (apart from a little rust door window sills).
I`d like to fit a Fiamma F45. There seems to me that a bit of difficulty inside as the truly wonderful cabinet work may cause problems with access to the monocoque.
Any suggestions?
I have used Tridents (2) and a Trooper since 1980 (150,000 each vehicle(!)), but had a protracted affair with Mitsubishi delica campervan for last 7 yrs. Time to return home.
Cheers,
Whitford Andrews

I have moved your post to this section as you must have missed the request when signing up on the forum to do an intro before posting.
You shouldnt damage the cabinet work as the Fiamma fittings are inside the cupboards. I was going to suggest until I saw your location go and have a nosey at either
an Amethyst, Excelsior, Executive or Talisman in a dealers that had one fitted to give you some re-assurance. You do need the correct mounting spacers for the Fiamma F45
though which I think was the standard awning for that van

Re: Fitting of awning
Hello Charles Andrews
Welcome to the forum .
We have a 1995 Amethyst with a fiamma F45 awning fitted. It was already fitted when we bought it.
The front awning mounting bracket is accessed through the second wall cupboard back on the passenger side. A hole has been cut in the back of the cupboard to access the fibreglass wall and a metal vent screwed over the hole. The rear mounting bracket is accessed by unscrewing the padded wall panel above the back door. It is all very neat and tidy and although we didn't fit it ourselves it doesn't look difficult to do.
Hope this helps, regards from Devon

Re: Fitting of awning
Hi Charles
Welcome to the Forum.
Although it sounds difficult, the best way to fit these awnings is to remove the cupboards. Then fit the correct stand-offs, drilling through from the outside. In this way you can get full access to the area sealing things up nicely. Another bracket is fitted behind the material panel above the habitation door. There is no need with this method to cut the backs or the cupboards, although numerous dealers fit like this due to the time involved to remove the cupboards. Personally the thought of cutting through these lovely cabinets seems very .
Regards
John
