Re: Fiamma UltraBox
On my previous Symbol, we had a fiamma "carry-bike" rack fitted to the offside rear door. It will take a fiamma 180 ultra box ( picture of it is in the classifieds section), but you obviously loose the capacity to take your bikes as well. In this boz, we carried the hook up cables, 10L & 5L water carriers, as well as a host of other items, which freed up space in the van.
Also I found that when towing my boats, the mast support will foul the side of the box to prevent turning to the right. My bikes were always carried on top of the boat trailer.
We then got a towbar mounted bike rack ( thule ) and when not towing the boat, we could make use of the box on the door rack, together with the bikes.
The new van, has a towbar, so we use the thule rack on the towbar, but no longer have a need for the fiamma box.
There are other size of Fiamma box, but they will take up a wider width across the rear of the van.

Many thanks for the response. Never considered the mast support and as the Osprey currently lives in the tender (ish) care of Rob Shaw at Kielder it'll be a while before I find out. Look for his name in Y&Y in a few weeks at the nationals - should be in the top 5.
I think you sold yours so I'll keep a lookout for one on the used Market. Cheers, enjoy the rest of the weekend

Yes, it was sold to Roger, but the * Inappropriate Word * carriers who can't speak enngleeish, managaged to drop it and damage one of the corners delivering it to him.
It is now with one of my company's suppliers, who are a plastics fabricator, to see what can be done.
They assure me it will be almost as good as new, being polypropylene, it is fairly easy to weld. But there will be scars showing. So it could soon be back on the market, but at a greatly reduced price.

Re: Fiamma UltraBox
This is our Fiamma 360 on a Fiamma bike rack on our last Duetto.
It's quite amazing the amount of stuff you can get in it which would be difficult to find space for inside the van. Chairs, bucket, levelling blocks, cable, water carrier and loads of other stuff. Can't think how we would have managed without it.
We bought it secondhand in excellent condition and paid £140 for it.

Re: Fiamma UltraBox
Sorry for delay in replying to comments,I was still on holiday when I posted question.
I did manage to pick up a very good used Ultrabox 500 on our way home.
It fits fine on the bikerack except the top mounting does not match up.
Some mods required in future.
When I figure out how to get pictures onto forum it will show what I mean.
Thanks again.
Jim

Re: Fiamma UltraBox
Pros - it has a very generous capacity, and makes the habitation space much more efficient.
Cons, it adds a bit of length, and you can't carry bikes on tour.
I wouldn't be without it now, after using it for a year. Leveling wedges, hook-up cable, 2 chairs, Chemicals for toilet, hose (need I go on?!) all these items would be taking up valuable space indoors.
Luckily it came fitted to my 2003 Nuevo, and I believe they are pricey, but for a small van, they are worth every penny!

Re: Fiamma UltraBox
I can't answer your question about the direct mounting kit, as our UltraBox500 fits on our bike rack. As we have the extended four-bike base on the rack, even with the box on we can still get one bike on, or two at a push, as well as the box, as long as we watch the total weight.
It also has the advantage that I can remove the box in order to use the rack to carry our Honwave boat when required.
