Problem retracting ELECTRIC STEP
Hi all, just wondered if anyone can offer advice. The Project 2000 electric step on our Nuevo Lancashire has developed a problem. It does not always retract when asked to by pressing the button, but it will retract when engine is started and a gear selected, it also comes down OK. I have checked for obstructions and greased the relevant areas, but no luck, it looks to me that a spring may be missing from one side, it has one such spring in place and it looks very much like it should have two, one either side. My dealer is bemused

Re: Problem retracting ELECTRIC STEP
I have seen something similar, not saying this is your problem but there is a fuse which on some vans is under the seat and the intermittent problem may indicate this has come loose (if it blows retract on turning on ignition stops)

Re: Problem retracting ELECTRIC STEP
Hi Mr bump.....you say that it retracts satisfactorily when the engine is started. That is as it should be and the step and corresponding fuse are okay. It opens on actvating the switch but won't retract on the switch. Suspect switch could be faulty or connection between switch and step.
