symbol tyre pressures
i have a symbol with 195/70/r 15c tyres fitted...why is there no definitive answer to what the tyre pressures should be .autosleeper say they wont give any answer .other questions asked on google turn up various pressures ranging from 43 psi to 65 psi .any advice would be appreciated from other symbol owners.......thanks jeff.

Re: symbol tyre pressures
The only accurate way to find pressures is to get your vehicle weighed at a local weighbridge. See the factsheet in the 'factsheet section' of the home page. Once weighed you can either use the chart in the factsheet or contact your tyre manufacturer who will tell you.

Hi there,
There should be a Tyre Pressure Chart in the Operator's Manual that came with the base vehicle. (In the Ford Transit it gives about 15 different tyre configurations from which to choose.)
As a motorhome is always "fully loaded" I use this as the criteria for my tyre pressures. The ride may be a bit firm but it complies with Continental and Ford criteria.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

Tyre pressure calculation
Hi Jeff I picked this up from the Bongo Fury forum.
Seems a bit long winded but it might help.
It came from an Australian camper van website and is identical to the advice offered on a couple of American automobile forums:
1. Measure and record the cold start pressure of your tyres before you start out.
2. Drive for a distance of approximately 100Km.
3. Recheck the tyre pressures immediately after pulling over and compare them with the the cold start pressure you had at the start of your run. If the pressures are right, the hot readings should be 4 psi (28 kPa) higher than the cold start readings.
4. If there is a greater than 4psi (28 kPa) difference between these pressures, the tyre temperature is too high caused by the cold start pressure being too low so the pressure needs to be increased. If there is less than 4 psi (28 kPa) difference, the cold start pressure is too high and needs to be lowered..
5. Be sure to use the same accurate gauge for both readings (NOT fuel station gauges)

There's a manufacturers label on my 2008 Symbol. 59 Fronts/65 Rear. Same tyre size as yours.

You may find that those pressures are for a fully laden vehicle, they may be rather hard if you are not loaded to the max.

Our vans are pretty well loaded to the max, compared to your average working version of the base vehicle. There must be one and a half tonnes of kitchen (fridge, cooker, sink), bathroom, cupboards, beds, gas bottles etc etc.
An allowable payload of a few hundred kilogrammes confirms we are pretty near the limit.
I used to run over 70 PSI in my previous van.
