Symbol tyre pressures
A lot of us seem to be confused by tyre pressure - me included!! On my 2003 Symbol I have the following tyres fitted.
N S rear: Doublestar 215/70/R 15C max 60 psi
O S rear: Doublestar 215/70/R 15C max 60 psi
N S front: Firestone 215/70 R 15 C max 65 psi
NS rear: Austone 215/70 R 15 C max 65psi
Edit
I've just been reading loads of posts on a number of forums and it seems no two people are using the same pressures - so I'm going to take an average and I'm going to go with 60psi front and 55 psi back.

It comes up all the time.
Around 55 psi sounds better than those very high figures on the doors etc.

Thanks for that Micky.
Thanks busby65 - I'll try my pressures first but I may come down to your recommendation if I find them a bit bumpy at 60 and 55

Re: Symbol tyre pressures
I used to run the Symphony at 50 front and 55 rear after weighing it and using the Tyresafe chart.

Interesting - I would have thought that the higher pressure would have been at the front to counter the weight of the engine ? Did you have a lot of weight at the back of your Symphony ?

No. Van was loaded as if going on hols with half tank fuel, half tank water and two gas bottles.Taurian wrote:Paulmold wrote:I used to run the Symphony at 50 front and 55 rear after weighing it and using the Tyresafe chart.

I don't go along with the theory that the front should be higher pressure just because the engine is at the front. Look at your weight plate in the engine bay and you'll see that the rear axle takes higher max weight than the front and if you look at cars, mine have always had the same or higher pressure in rear, depending on load. I think the furniture and washroom and oven etc (and spare wheel underneath) will add up to a fair weight.

Re: Symbol tyre pressures
The tyre pressures marked on the door pillar of our Peugeot Boxer Symbol of 70psi relate to the tyres fitted when the vehicle was new and are designed for campervans. Replacement tyres would normally be tyres fitted for light goods vans (which differ from campervan tyres). These tyres would normally have a maximum pressure of 65psi when fully loaded, 60psi is recommended for the weight of the campervan which is a compromise which will give you a comfortable ride. This information was obtained from our local ATS tyre shop. I hope this helps!
