Re: Harmony modifications
Rinnai water heaters were fitted in Machzone, some Holdsworths and probably others but like the Vaillant, they are gas only and are not room sealed. I think they are illegal to fit in new vans because of carbon monoxide issues.

I would not have expected to find this genuine but it looks so and it also looks if the link to the pic above is genuine also.

Re: Harmony modifications
That seems quite plain to me. Whoever started the rumour that they might not be genuine. So many experts out there and yet you came up with this. Pity we cant see the reg. number..

We have definitely seen evidence of one that was ~not~ genuine (by the admission of the owner), so it's not a rumour. But as has been explained earlier, A-S never made public how many vans they actually made on Fiat base vehicles, so nobody really knows how many are genuine and how many are non original (including the ones allegedly built by A/S staff and ex-A-S staff!).
Interesting to see the photo of the Talisman on a Fiat too...

Re: Harmony modifications
This is a prime example of why we get suspicious. Listed as 'Autosleeper' with non-original graphics and the dealer puts 'Leisuredrive' number plates on.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
without the build number, who knows whether genuine or not. People buy Auto-sleepers because they think they get a well made product that will hold it's value. Simply calling it an Auto-sleeper, putting on graphics etc could con a first-time buyer who when they come to sell or part-ex find out it's not an AS and get a lower trade-in.
and this dealer lists this Harmony as a Fiat when it's clearly on a Peugeot.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
and for more confusion, to play devil's advocate, here is an Executive on a Fiat (AS don't use Fiats?)

I think I'll give up trying to weed out the fakes as obviously even AS themselves have no idea what they have built on. Just need to find an AS on a Renault now !!!!!!

Re: Harmony modifications
I suppose that if one was really suspicious you could suggest that if they are capable of building to the same standard as the factory, they wouldnt have a problem 'forging' the sticker in the glove box. In the event, I am not at all concerned than mine is / isn't the real thing, everything points to it being right.....Even if AS only made one on a Fiat chassis they would simply continue with build numbers as the rest of the builds...

Re: Harmony modifications
The Autosleeper factory burnt down in October 1992 and records of previous builds were lost.
Trying to remember the date I found this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] see chapter 6

Re: Harmony modifications
Is there anything to suggest that AS would turn a customer away if he rocked up with a brand new chassis and said, 'Would you put me a body on this please,' After all I might be a Renault dealer and have a van I cant move. Be a bit unfair to ask me to go back and fetch a Merc or whatever.....

Re: Harmony modifications
Let's not forget early Talismans and Executives were on Fiat chassis (Talbot Express shape )

QUOTE; Interesting to see the water heater by Rinnai - I've never heard of that make before. Usually A-S fitted Vaillant during that period, so perhaps it's been replaced...UNQUOTE,
Been doing some research and find that the Rinnai heater was made in Japan which you could consider far East, but unlike cheap Chinese copies. The group is still producing water heaters but based in the US. I cannot imagine that Machzone would fit inferior Far Eastern goods, particularly something that could kill the occupants
