Re: Harmony modifications
If you have a build number in the glovebox then it must be genuine. We were lead to believe that AS only used Peugeots so have always been suspicious of ones made on Fiats. What year is your Harmony? As you mention the handbook covering Talbot's as well then perhaps it is after the Boxer was introduced that AS only used Peugeots. As for putting photos on there is a help page here

Re: Harmony modifications
and of course the chassis number on the label also matches the number in the log book. I have just taken some pictures so if any one will volunteer to post them I will send them via email, cos I am too ancient to mess with computers......So, does any one know how many that were built on Fiat chassis, surely mine cant be the only one.....

If you go onto Photobucket, look at the photo you want to show here, go to the right hand side SHARE LINKS section, click on the IMG link (which will copy it) then come back here and paste it into your post and that's it, done.
Interesting to find a real Ducato based van - as others have said, there don't seem to be many genuine ones about and it would be helpful to know how many were produced. A-S could I'm sure provide that info, but they have never been willing to do so - no idea why not...

Sorry, only just seen your question about the removing the overcab bulkhead -Doh!!
Yes, I did and it opened up a much more flexible storage area with a cargo net. It took quite a while as there were over 2 dozen mini plastic brackets hold it in place and you need to be almost double jointed to get at them. I also had to temporarily remove the upstands on the ledge over the rear passenger seats as the bulkhead was screwed to them too.
BUT- now I no longer get whacked on the back of the head by the cupboard flap- RESULT !!
The only v. slight down side is the ceiling droops a little as the bulkhead was key to holding it fully in place but there's enough other kit in the ceiling to keep it in place, lights and vent. I am considering some sort of tastefully finished hoop with the ends located on the ledge over the rear passenger seats.

This drew blood for me on at least one occasion on my last A-S too! The last time it happened I vowed (after I had stopped swearing) to fix it - so I drilled through both parts of the hinge to take a pin (actually just a cut down nail). Every time the flap was up the pin would go in, so that it wasn't sitting there waiting like a mousetrap for the slightest touch to bring it crashing back down...
redturner - all you need to do is copy it from Photobucket, come back here, point to an appropriate place, press the CTRL and V keys together and it should paste it into your post.
I'm not sure if you've seen the previous posts on the subject of supposedly non-genuine A-S vans? The "non-genuine" bit is misleading, because we know that what ~can~ happen is that an A-S body can get transferred to a new cab/chassis - so it's really more "non-original" than "non-genuine". If it's done well there is no reason why it should be in any way inferior to an "original" equivalent!

Re: Harmony modifications
So this couldnt really apply to a van conversion as opposed to a coachbuilt unit.

Re: Harmony modifications
Absolutely, you got build number, you got genuine AS. There are several vans out there built by workers one bit at a time but none that have been offered for sale have ever had that essential build number. Maybe there was a shortage on Talbot's at the time.redturner37 wrote:So this couldnt really apply to a van conversion as opposed to a coachbuilt unit.

Re: Harmony modifications
WOW, must go for a lay down after that. Hope I havent used too much space but this is what I have. The only problem that I have is the shower controls, far too small and far too stiff. I have had them apart and tried to make them easier, but cant be done and this isnt helped by the fact that it has a geazer fitted, Makes lots of hot water and is great at the sinks but by the time you have the controls set for the correct temp, the water has run out.. I have found and removed the access panel to get to the rear of the mixer and am looking for a suitable new unit to fit, one with large knobs....Thank you for your patience...

Re: Harmony modifications
IIRC we have seen one transplanted hard top (I can remember it because the owner confirmed that the top was shorter than expected, where it had been cut away from the bond to the roof) but I doubt it's common.
Interesting to see the water heater by Rinnai - I've never heard of that make before. Usually A-S fitted Vaillant during that period, so perhaps it's been replaced...

Re: Harmony modifications
Funnily enough, that is the only handbook that is missing. If I could find some where to put it, I would fit a cascade 2, brilliant water heaters...

Re: Harmony modifications
It looks to be a Far East copy of the Vaillant, so I suspect you may be able to find a manual online somewhere. The pipework looks quite bright so it's probably a fairly recent replacement.
The Cascade 2 is a good water heater but it can (and did on my last van) cause significant corrosion problems unless installed very well. On my van, A-S did not install it well, and rainwater got in around the cowl and sat in one of the body sections (which were not at the time properly rustproofed on a Transit) causing major rust. I guess they all have their pros and cons...

Re: Harmony modifications
I found lots of hand books for the Rianna heaters but not this model. Good point about the bright pipework, but I cleaned that up because I thought that I had a leak, turned out to be the regulator. It would be difficult to mount a Cascade where the Rianna is currently situated. As I said, it is a great heater and maybe if I can control the shower better it wont be a problem.
