Hi Henryboxer.

In the boxer cab the secure box is a metal lockable plate that fits into the apperture under the passenger seat.

This is not always supplied as I think it may have been an extra.

Quite a few people will hang on to this metal plate when changing vans and transfer it to the new van as the seat arrangement in the boxer is usually the same.

If the front of your cab seats are open then you ain't got one. Unless you have a retrofit box somewhere.

Speak to A/Sleepers as you may be able to buy the 'front' plate that has the lock on it.

I may have a go at making one. All you should need is a hinged cover with a hasp for a padlock. I wonder if someone who already has the proper one could take a pic and post it ?

Hi Conal.

If you cannot get a SH one any small metal fabrication shop should be able to make you one. If you need a couple of pictures and a few measurements I would be happy to help.( after the weather has died down a bit)

Cheers. Whisky. champagne

In our Symphony (just over a year old) there's a locking drawer under the floor when you open the back doors.

Not exactly high security, an 8" screwdriver could probably force it open, the plate for the under seat storage doesn't look much better, the catch plate would soon come off, with little effort.

The major benefit is the fact that the 'naughty boys' don't know its there in the first place (I assume non are reading this...).

Hi Matchlessman.

When the plate is not fitted as you say it looks like it could be forced however when in situ the top of the plate and the catch is right up under the seat squab. That makes it very difficult if not virtually immpossible to inset something like a screwdriver or anything of great length to lever it open. look here

Conal

One consideration is, do you want potential thieves looking at the base of the seat seeing a lock visible?  Another option is to just put a non-descript frontage there.  There have been instances, not sure where I've een this, of a fair old amount of damage done as thieves try to break the 'safe'.
