snow forecast in the UK
I have seen some pictures of snow in the UK.
i have also seen a video of a Russian plane taking off with more snow on the wings than we have on the ground.
Thats the place to worry about snow.
Dont forget extra food and a shovel if you go down to the shops in your Motorhome.

Have you noticed BBC reporters reporting on the ‘big freeze’ from places wherever they can find the most minuscule amount of snow. Saw them on Exmoor this evening with a light dusting on a single track, none anywhere else. They just can’t wait.

Re: snow forecast in the UK
Have to agree with the above, makes me laugh when you see reporters with a slight dusting on the verges saying how treacherous the roads are having said this we have had quite a few problems in Norfolk over the last few days especially in the Norwich region. Will be interesting to see how things go over the next two or three days as the forecast is pretty bleak..... How's everyone else getting on in their neck of the woods??

No snow here in Cornwall and according to the forecast we aren’t going to get any. Just more rain! Although, having said that a BBC reporter may find a shovel full up on Bodmin Moor.

Gives up to 10 inches of snow here tmw evening and night, that could lead for an interesting weekend in the Motorhome

Re: snow forecast in the UK
Hi there,
I too love the "Panic Reporting" but like the old "Cry Wolf" syndrome they just have to be right sometime!
In France the roads around the Brittany area are littered with the "slippery road" signs with a "Verglas Frequent" plate underneath. "Verglas" is what we know as "black-ice".
I pointed out to my good friend Jean-Claude that the UK didn't have as many of these signs, even up in Scotland where there was a chance of ice for four months of the year.
He gave the usual Gallic shrug and replied "Ah but here in France the gritting lorries don't come out until after the ice has melted. This is so that they don't slide off the road."
I think he was kidding, but if I drove a gritting lorry the policy would get my vote!
Best regards,

On the other flip of the coin, there would be some shouting from people if the forecast didn't give snow and we got snow and people were not kinda prepared Forecasters will never be able to get it right for everyone. I seen it chuck it down a few miles from where i live and yet at home no rain. Weather forecast was right for one and wrong for the other

One of the weather forecasters at RAF Binbrook once told me that they got it right 45% of the time!
Apparently my logical response of "Give the other option and you will be right for 55% of the time!" wasn't valid!
Best regards,
Ian

Hi All,
A couple of pic's of our current Campsite, in deepest, darkest 'New Forest'.
View through the Windscreen (if I could have been bothered to remove the Silver-screen)
Poor old 'Clubby' looks like she drove through a Coal-mine to get here
Took an hour to download to Photo-bucket this morning .......
Orange 'Dongle' very sluggish ...... (Down Whisky )
Happy travelling All,
Brian & Chris

Looks fun there Decks..... Hope you took a sleigh
Started thawing out here earlier today but I suspect that will change if the forecast for the weekend is correct.... Currently nice and toasty inside our Nuevo at 15 °C despite the icicles hanging from the bodywork

Hi CC,
Would have taken a Sleigh ...... but Chris refuses to tow me
Our Pitch had 3" of Virgin snow when we arrived yesterday afternoon, but has been thawing out all day
We would like a few nice days, as had planned trips to Beaulieu Motor Museum and Bucklers Hard (as well as others) whilst in the Area.
No particular time scale for returning home ....... oh the joy of retirement !! (sorry CC .... that was below the belt )
Hope you both had a good meal for Mrs CC's Birthday bash ........ you've done it again deckie .....
Brian

Hi Brian & CC.
You must be trying to qualify for the SAS section of the forum being out in this weather. Chris and Mrs CC both should be awarded the cold weather camping medal of merit. My Mrs would probably have done me in after a couple of days close confinement.
Respect. Whisky.
PS. Keep your orange dongle dry and warm Brian.

Hi there,
They are predicting 10-15cms (4-6") for Lincolnshire tonight but it's blowing a hooley!
This normally means that there is 1cm in some places and 200cms in other places when it starts to drift!
Here's hoping the wind drops or the snow doesn't materialise!!
Best regards,
Ian

Re: snow forecast in the UK
The forecast was for snow to hit us in Norfolk around 3pm so far it's not materilised.... living on the coast might be helping... the forecast said it's heading our way from Essex.
Here's a pic of some impressive icicles on our motorhome which I took earlier today, there was a slight thaw earlier but its freezing again...
BTW our van is parked on the driveway at home, not currently away... although I wouldn't have a problem if we were... I'd love to get snowed in and cut off from the world outside (as long as we could walk to a nearby shop for provisions) wonder if the sites would charge you still if you got stuck on site and couldn't get off for a few days now theres an idea, grab you're coat MrsCC were going away for a few days

Hi there,
Sleet ahead of the snow which finally arrived in Skegness about an hour ago.
I don't see it staying very long as the temperature is up to 3 degrees; but if it starts to freeze then it will be treacherous driving in the morning as its lying on the back-roads!
Here's hoping!
Best regards,
Ian

Re: snow forecast in the UK
Stopped snowing and nothing dripping so looks like it will crust over nicely with a layer of ice!!
Looks like it will be a good day to stay in and do something useful around the house; just can't think of anything and daren't ask!
Ah well, there's a Victor Mature film on tomorrow that I might start watching and fall asleep for a siesta.
I like Victor Mature for his honesty. Apparently he tried to join an upmarket golf club in Los Angeles and was rejected on the basis that he was an "Actor". He protested "I'm not an actor and I've got five films to prove it!"

Re: snow forecast in the UK
We were not forecast to have more snow here but it started late last night and by this morning (4am) we have had another good 2" on top of the inch or so we already had but I've been to Manchester Airport twice already (4.15 and 6.15 from here) and the roads are really good, only the estate roads are still covered. The gritters have done a great job overnight.
