Roof vent Sussex duo noisey

Can anyone come up with a solution to our Sussex duo roof vent with a metal lovrer slats which are very noisey.
Also van is only 1 year old on rear door posts at base under rubber boot to protect from drainage water noticed superficial rust is this common?
