Re: Stalling symphony
hi,
thanks to both of you, something else for me to look at. I had the water in the plughole problem once before, noticed the lead to the stepper had been trapped under a plastic guard so I need to check that out, Honda jazz 90000 miles, no problems, Peugeot boxer, 20000 miles, nothing but problems, oh well,
chris

Hi,
sorry not replied earlier and i cannot seem to responed to e-mails on my i phone,
I have been in hospital under going a prostate operation so not been at computer for sometime.
first of all if the egine management light as not come on then you wont find anything in the memory.
I wouldnt be to concerned with the code checking, the items i would check first are the running parameters are correct such as air temp sensor and engine coolant sensor both of which provide information to the ECU for correct idle.
A dealer as the equipment to measre the parameters whilst the engine is running at all tempetures.
ensure there are no air leaks at the throttle body / stepper motor and manifold.
its a good idea to check ignition leads and plugs as someone else suggested.
please dont move the throttle adjustment screw and ensure the cable isnt holding the butterfly open at idle.
The correct idle speed is approx 850 to 950 rpm. ensure the engine position sensor is ok and all wiring to sensor.
It is important also to ensure the speed sensor is ok in the gearbox.
I know you may not want to go to a dealer but the running parameters are important the only other way maybe would to check the sensor with a resistance meter against a known good vehicle with same engine management system but wouldnt be easy.
regards
John Dean
