Fire extinguisher placement.
While a fire blanket would fit nicely on the shower wall by the back door I happen to have 3 fire extinguishers and was wondering where the best place would be for one of these.

My original extinguisher is located on the side of the passenger seat base. You could also mount one on the end of the over-cooker cupboard next to the heater/water heater switches if space allows, as this would be handy directly above the cooker. Also close to the cooker would be above the TV shelf, on the wardrobe wall.

Fire extinguisher
Hi Celticbiker,
Ideally it should be positioned where you can reach it from inside or outsidethe van I have 2 1 one the side of the passenger seat in the cab and one in the kitchen area at the back of the van.

Thank you from me too. Mine is currently in the bottom of the wardrobe on a hard to get off clamp - immediately above the gas bottle.
I'd be safer legging it!!!

Fire Extinguishers
Dont forget that if you have do a fire, hopfully very minor, a dry powder fire extinguisher may not work unless it is turned upside down and shaken vigorously for a second or two before use as the power does tend to pack down whilst being driven around in a motorhome.
As a motorcycle race marshal, at a race meeting I always turn the the fire extinguishers upside down hold them to my ear and listen for the powder falling back down the bottle, as I was taught by the British motor racing marshals club, this ensures that it is loose enough to move should it be needed.

Thanks Brian, good tip.
Just been out and checked the pressure and had a "listen" to mine. On the smaller ones it seems you can't hear the powder moving, but you can tell if it does by the change in balance from top to bottom of the cylinder.
