Owners manual Duetto
Hi, just joined so new to this, we have just bought a 1995 Autosleeper Duetto, it's in great nick for its age, no rust and just 31,000. However we don't have the owners manual and other booklets etc and it would be good to have these, does anyone know where I can get them or perhaps a copy?

Re: Owners manual Duetto
Hi there,
I thought "I can copy mine." and then checked the thickness of the Manuals in "Petal"!!!!!!
I discovered that, by the time the Manual has covered everything from the basic Transit vehicle to the Thetford toilet, the paperwork comes in at well over 300 pages of really useful information about everything on the Duetto.
To be honest, I just don't have the time at the moment but I have put a "watch this thread" note on your Post so if no-one else can help before next March (when we get back from Spain) please send me a PM and plan a visit to Skegness as part of your touring holiday 2013!!
In the meantime, best of luck with your quest.
Best regards,

Unless you are a "speed reader" I suggest that you give it at least three days then!

Paul,
If you join the Autosleepers Owners Club, I believe you can borrow/rent manuals.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, what info would you like to know? I'am a recent Duetto owner myself, but, starting to get up to speed with all the 'knowhow'

Thanks,
Thanks for that info, I will give that a go and see if I can rent one to copy, meanwhile, how does the drivers seat go when making two single beds up as it does not swivel like the passenger one?
Cheers for your help.

On the back of the drivers seat your will notice a little lip about 1.5 inches long. Push the seat forward (you've got that pull chord attached to the seat, full it up/backwards as you push the seat from behind) grab one of the cushions and then place it so it wedges between the bench sofa and on that lip. Pull the drivers seat back (using the black chord) to wedge it firmly In place.

Hi not wanting to be the prophet of doom, but i almost bought a 1995 with same mileage off ebay from a lady called Joanne, that also had the owners manuals missing, luckily i did a hpi before proceeding with the purchase and found out it had done well over 100k, may just be a coincidence but i would check it out just in case.

Re: Owners manual Duetto
Hi there,
With regard to the driver's seat I have fitted a short length of 1" angle-iron (actually it's aluminium) at the end of the bunk bit so that there is a proper ledge for the cushion (the one with the reinforced bottom) to rest on.
Another tip is that before you get out of the driving seat drop it down to minimum height so that the two ledges are level. (If I don't do this I get cramp in my legs because my feet are slightly raised!)
With regard to the possibility of "clocking" it is a regular feature of the trade. The main thing to work out is how much you believe the previous owner as the cam-belt needs to be changed out at (if my memory is still working at its usual 10%) 60,000 miles. If I had ANY uncertainty about the mies on the engine I would DEFINITELY get it changed and start from scratch.
Best regards,
Ian

1995 Duetto
Hi, yea crossed my mined, but we bought from a dealer, and have all previous MOT,s some work receipts, also 12 months warranty including habitation cover. So I think it's ok and drives like a vehicle that has done 31,000. Plus having a son inlaw as a mechanic and MOT tester helps.
It is always a worry thou,
Cheers.

Re: Owners manual Duetto
Just a thought - have you tried contacting the previous owner for the manuals ? info may be in the registration document or the dealer should be able to tell you.
Also have a look at: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (This website may well be of use to all Transit or indeed Ford Car owners)
for info about your vehicle or look on the Ford Transit Owners Club website there is masses of info on there and you should be able to source a Transit (base vehicle) handbook from someone off there

Re: Owners manual Duetto
When a vehicle has been clocked like the ford transit, the numbers on the speedo don't line up properly, they look all jumbly. That's the easiest way to get the alarm bells running.
another well obvious sign is a noisy prop shaft, which always occurs on a vehicle over 100k
The back doors are always the 1st to go. I think it would be near impossible to find a perfectly rust free duetto, there's always a little bit somewhere.

Owners manual/clocking
Hi, yea I am just in the process of writing to the previous owner, great minds hey!
As for the clocking, all numbers are perfectly aligned back doors are in great condition, and runs great, the engine is clean and just what you would expect an engine of 31,000 to look like.
Cheers for all your help and the heads up on what to look out for.
