No water at the taps!
Recently the waterpump on our Kemerton XL (2020) started to become a bit noisy and finally the water flow at the taps began to reduce. Needless to say it finally packed up deep in France. I pulled out the pump and removed the pump mechanism from the motor. The centre spindle was offset and split. Cue new pump ordered. These are Flojet and when I installed the new pump - nothing!
Set up a test rig and found BOTH pumps worked fine.
To cut a long story short the problem was the supply pipe from the fresh tank which was pressed against the exhaust pipe! The insulation around the 10mm supply pipe had protected it over a period of time but slowly the pipe melted until it finally became completely blocked.
If this isn't a design fault I don't know what is. I can see no evidence that this pipe routing was not there from manufacture. The pictures show the centre of the feed pipe.
I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. I'd certainly recommend all Kemerton owners to take a look at their freshwater supply pipe to see if it's in contact with the exhaust pipe. I suspect the pipework of other vans in this series may be the same.
Tried to attach a photo to this post but not sure if it's worked.
