2000 Symbol clutch cable
Good morning fellow campers. En route a couple of days ago my clutch cable (with an extremely loud bang) gave up the ghost. My local garage told me they are difficult to get these days. They said they have orered one from Manchester? and, the owners words, "Hope it's the right one". This sounds a bit hit and miss to me. Anyone else out there ( 2000 1.9 TD Symbol owners) had this problem?. Or if anyone else can advise of any cable distibutors I can apply to. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2000 Symbol clutch cable
A forum search may be worthwhile, as I know that Boxer clutch cables have been discussed lots of times before - if you do that, use the "Advanced Search" option, because it allows you to tell it to search for all terms rather than any.
Otherwise, there are several companies that specialise in custom-making cables using your broken one as a pattern. I've used Speedy Cables before - the results were good and it wasn't (then, a few years ago) much more expensive than an OEM cable. Though of course you have to put up with a wait, compared to just buying from stock...

Sure it’s the cable and not the end of the plastic clutch pedal that has broken off, I had a2000 boxer that did that.

Thank you Paul. Will wait to hear from the "Manchester " one before reviewing my options. Much appreciated.Paulmold wrote:If all else fails Speedycables will make one for you.

Thanks for your response Bendog, but definitely the inner cable. I've seen it, (werll some of it), and it's shredded.Bendog wrote:Sure it’s the cable and not the end of the plastic clutch pedal that has broken off, I had a2000 boxer that did that.

Presumably you have tried GSF car parts, Euro Car Parts, Ebay, even Amazon sometimes has these things. And TruckBusters in Rugby might have a good used one.
