towing eye (hook/whatever)
camping at weekend. lovely campsite spot but lots of rain. When we went to move off on sunday the wheels just sun on the grass. A helpful landrover chap offered to pull the van off. search for towing eye (2020 Peugeot Boxer based Warwick Duo - bought new). Guess what? there it wasnt in the box containing the jacking equipment. Anyhow, another helpful motorhomer had one. The camping community are so nice btw! job done.
here's my question. in the excitement i didnt note the length of the towing eye. back home now so i will order one but should it be short or long? Both seem available and does it matter?
cheers

I'd go for long, might fit a chain as well as a rope?

You could have tied the rope around the wipers

Actually I tried that but it didn't hold. Tried the aerial after that. Same.

thanks Glynn.
are we talking about the same thing?
what was missing was the towing eye that scres into the aperture in the bumper.

Re: towing eye (hook/whatever)
when you have a new vehicle it has a pdi check and this should have checked the items are in the vehicle so i was just asking to help make sure you have got the plate if you need to fit the spare wheel. the tool kit the spare wheel plate should have been shown to you on the hand over and would have been seen the tow eye was not in the tool kit if this had been done correctly

Thanks Glyne. It wasn't done properly but I probably wouldn't have noticed the tow eye missing anyway.glyne lock wrote:when you have a new vehicle it has a pdi check and this should have checked the items are in the vehicle so i was just asking to help make sure you have got the plate if you need to fit the spare wheel. the tool kit the spare wheel plate should have been shown to you on the hand over and would have been seen the tow eye was not in the tool kit if this had been done correctly

Victor
Suggest a trial fit when you have it, most are LH thread to prevent undoing when RH plait rope is under tension! Could save minor embarrassment!!

Cheers, my hobby is old motorcycles restoration. Quite used to lh threads in some applications and wouldn't force anything. Quite a coarse thread on the bolt anyway so X thread would be hard to do even if you tried but thanks.
