Hi there everyone and a Happy New Year to you all.
Posted about this before and I'm still at a loss as to what is the cause of the damp on floor at back of van.
To explain. Dry all throughout year even when we have torrential rain. No leaks. As soon as cold weather arrives damp patch occurs. I'm thinking its condensation, but why just there? Any thoughts, ideas would be greatly appreciated. Jenny

Could be condensation as you suggest, but another possibility might be a component or seal that contracts in the cold weather leaving a gap for rain to get in.

You've got winter covers for your fridge vents?
Water from inside or from outside, is your water system drained down?

Rear door seals not good enough to protect against driving rain?

We had water ingress +++ in our 2019 Kemerton XL because A-S hadn't properly sealed the outside surround of our upper fridge vent. I'll be surprised if we are the only Kemerton XL owners have this happening.

Hi All
Yes got winter covers for vents.
No evidence of ingress through door seals and all drained down.

Should fridge vents be sealed on the outside surround? Mine aren't as I'm able to take them off. Perhaps that's the issue?
Any more thoughts really appreciated. Thanks

The winter covers should protect against the most driving rain, but not completely.
As I referred to before, are the plastic surrounds of the fridge vents completely sealed? On a vehicle as old as yours if there was an issue other people on the web would by now have reported a similar issue with their A-S van.

I expect you have a Sureflo water pump behind the fridge but despite any drain-down a few pieces of dry kitchen roll strategically placed may help to identify the source of your damp.

In the case of water ingress in our Kemerton XL me buying a damp meter helped though it wasn't cheap. In the long term it was cheaper than us going down to A-S twice in two vehicles.

Damp at back of Duetto 1998 Empty Same weird problem in same-year Duetto

Post by guyjo61 Sun Nov 05, 2023 4:55 pm

Hello from Bristol
I've just returned from the storage unit trying to identify the weird damp patch by the back door and fridge that has mysteriously appeared on our Duetto after five years of bone-dry ownership.
I wonder if jenny c-t got to the bottom of it?
More mysteries with each passing year; I suppose that's why folk eventually sell and buy a more recent one. But it's so round...

I never did find out where the damp comes from however I am fairly convinced it's condensation due to very cold weather, as damp has not reappeared yet despite the horrendous wet weather we have had recently. Check behind fridge seals, below sink and barn door seals. If anyone has any other thoughts please post, Thanks
