Re damp in 1998 Duetto
Hi everyone, hope some of you can help out. As said in earlier post carpet/floor at back of van is very wet. Mobile repair chap came out today. After checking everything out including filling water and heating water then draining, taking up carpet etc no running leak was visible he and I can only think water is leaking from behind sink possibly waste pipe. The problem is we can't access the area.He is coming back next week to try and take the sink unit out but at present he has no idea how it comes out ,thinks he will have to take cooker and fridge out to gain access. As you can see we are stuck , any ideas, thoughts would be really appreciated. Thanks for reading from sad and confused Jenny C-T

I would have thought you can access under sink through fridge vents outside but presume an engineer would have looked at that, or did he?

Hi, I had the kitchen unit removed from my 1999 Duetto, and yes it did involve removal of oven and fridge to access fitting screws.
I believe the guy who did it found it quite fiddly to do.
You can remove the panel in the bottom of the cupboard under the sink, behind the gas isolation valves, there are screws holding it in place, easy enough to do. That may give you access to see where the leak is coming from.

Hi Jenny,
Sadly the kitchen was removed to enable welding to rust repairs.
The leak could be something as simple as loose pipe connection, either hot/cold, or waste. Once you can get your hands behind the unit it will be easier to trace the leak.
Repairing the leak may require more to be removed though.

It's possibly a good idea to also have a look at the sink in the shower/toilet cubicle. The fittings used are fairly flimsy and water from the shower/sink/toilet can seep out into the rear area of the van. Just a thought as Jenny c-t said that's where the dampness showed.
