Extra ventilation
Has anyone thought of a cunning plan to fit a fan in a Remis (Remitop Vario II) roof vent, to provide some extra extraction when cooking? I’ve looked at the removable Fiamma fan but it’s too large for the aperture.
The existing ‘extractor fan’ over the hob doesn't really extract, just wafts any steam/bacon smell around!
We’re going a bit Heath Robinson at the moment, looking at 12v clip-on car fans and ways to fettle them.
Just thought I’d ask in case anyone has already solved the problem.
I know replacement vents with fan incorporated are available, but I was hoping for something easier (cheaper!) simpler & removable, so the Remis fly screen can still be used at night.
I’m sure someone out there has the answer.

Re: Extra ventilation
I fitted a .Maxxfan which is well worth its £300 cost. A quality product which is available in 400mm or the smaller size (280mm?). It takes a cooking smells away and can be left overnight on a silent 10% fan setting for gentle ventilation. It has a built in fly screen which is easy to clean.

Re: Extra ventilation
Thanks Ron. I did find your earlier post on your maxxfan installation and was very impressed. It is a great solution.
I was hoping for a simpler fix and we’re looking at in-line fans at the moment.
When we are somewhere hot & sunny, I cook outside in my Remoska or use a skillet on a gas picnic stove, but not possible when it’s pouring down! My husband suggested I buy a golf umbrella………..!

Re: Extra ventilation
Why not open an extra window, get a cross flow to remove any cooking smells. No cost. We have a roof fan but never use it and don’t get a problem. As you know, anything extra you add comes off your payload.

2 options possibly not considered......
Plat de Jour in Froggie
Menu del Dia in Spain
Kettle boiling when not on EHU.
Bread storage in oven
Long life milk storage in grill
Extra wine storage where pots/pans go
No electricity needed, simplicity, varied diet

Re: Extra ventilation
Unfortunately not many (2) opening windows on a Warwick Duo! There is a sliding one, but its behind the cooker and the glass lid of the hob, when raised, blocks most of any through draft.
Ian, I like your thinking! Nothing like a Menu del Dia, followed by a promenade, with a cafe con leche & brandy at the end.

Re: Extra ventilation
Over the summer we slept in our wxl with both cab windows down abut one inch, and the three skylights raised. Provided a reasonable airflow most nights, warm air rose and exited through roof pulling cooler air in through cab.
We do stay on sites or cls, wouldn't do if off grid.
