Kingham SOG cassette ventilation system?
Just been reading about the SOG ventilation system. (See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ).
Having noticed the wif of fermentation gases when you open the toilet valve I thought this system might be worth fitting to our Kingham.
Has anyone here fitted one and if so is it worthwhile and how did you vent it externally?
The Kingham cassette external door is behind the van rear doors so obviously we cant vent through the door but they do have kits for venting through the floor and through the roof. Not sure whether this would be possible on our van?

Hallo!
In our Kingham we have a sogventilation through the floor. It is so good. No bad smell in the van.
We live in Sweden and had it mounted here.

Hi Botilda!
Thanks for your reply. Am very interested to learn how they vented yours through the floor in your Kingham. There doesnrlt seem to be enough room in the toilet cassette cupboard?
Would it be possible for you to take a photo so I can see how where yours is vented?

Thanks Paul very helpful but no one on that thread has a Kingham and I really just want to know how it would vent in a Kingham as it cant be vented through the rear van doors.

Why not just do the simple thing and put tablets in the cassette???

I do put tablets in the cassette but we still get a wif now and then. The SOG vents this so you get no smell at all.

The vent has a charcoal filter so there is no smell to affect the neighbours and environementally better too.

You can buy a hell of a lot of chemical for £173.

Re: Kingham SOG cassette ventilation system?
I agree Paul. I was really only considering this because I wanted to get rid of the unpleasant smell of chemicals inside the van.
The fact that we might save on using chemicals is just a possible added benefit but not my main motivation.

A Hell of a complex solution to a 3 second spray from an aerosol can of odour repellent!!!

Re: Kingham SOG cassette ventilation system?
Ian the cassette in the Kingham is located behind the van doors and next to the bed. The vent valve to the cassette vents into the compartment under the toilet and so the smell is there all the time as it can only escape into the van either via the blade opening or via the cassette compartment.
Its not as simple as spraying an aerosol. The cassette needs to be vented externally. Some days I can smell the cassette odour when lying in bed. Its not just when someone uses it.
In your van I believe the cassette compartment door is on the side of your van and so smells will vent into the compartment and that dissipates externally via your compartment door. You dont therefore get a build up of fermentation gases like we do in the Kingham.

Re: Kingham SOG cassette ventilation system?
I wonder whether Ian's opinion is based on experience of ownership of a SOG system, from suffering from a neighboring motorhome or simply hearsay?

Re: Kingham SOG cassette ventilation system?
I fitted one to a Wildax Solaris which has same configuration as Kingham. Am wondering about doing same to Kingham. Pictures of article published in MMM attached, hopefully. You can empty toilet every day without wasting chemicals and be kinder to the environment
Ah, how do you attach photos?
