Strange 12v socket on 1992 Trident
Good afternoon all from a slightly cloudy Malmesbury,
I really could do with some help please....
We recently bought our first Trident so we are absolute newbies! I'm hoping someone here may shed some light on this for me seeing as no one else seems to know the answer.
On our Zig control Panel (MC 2000) there is a 12v socket but it is really thin (smaller than little finger size) so nothing 12v made now would fit into it. I've been asking around all morning and no one seems to know of any form of adaptor for this. Is the only way round the problem to fit another 12v cigarette socket next to the control panel do you think? I don't really want to pay to have this done if there is a simpler solution.
I would really appreciate any advice you good people can give. My other half rang AS this morning and they can't think of anything other than fitting a new socket either. It just seems its obsolete but there must be other AS models out there with this particular Zig panel on so I'm wondering what their solution was.
Thanks for reading.

Are you sure it's not one of these, quite common and you can get adaptors to fit standard cig lighter plugs..

Hello
Thanks ever so much for both replies.
Yes that is the same Zig Panel and I should have said on my first message, we tried the Hella type adaptor from ebay this week but that won't fit either.

Thanks for your help. I'll take a look at those. It's going into AS on Wednesday to have rear belts fitted so maybe when they actually see it they might know. It's hard to describe over the phone to them.

Is this by any chance a din socket, these are I believe a German standard and are smaller than the usual British type, if so Roadpro in Daventry sell a selection of plugs and sockets of this type.
Their telephone number is 01327301198, ring them with the diameter of the socket and I am sure they will be able to help. I have always found them very helpfull.

Re: Strange 12v socket on 1992 Trident
Thanks all. You've been great! I'm just going through your replies and I'm sure we can sort something out now. We can't wait to get out on the road. If there's a thread somewhere showing essentials to pack could someone please point me in the right direction as it might prevent divorce. I am a terrible over-packer you see
Thanks again. Hopefully one day I can add something useful to your threads.

Hello All
Just a quick one to finish the thread.
Thanks everyone for all your ideas. Unfortunately after a day of phoning around we were no nearer getting a straight adaptor so we took the easiest option of getting Autosleepers to fit a new 12v socket. I must say, it looks absolutely factory fitted. They have done a lovely job and we found out lots about our Trident in the process so it was well worth a trip.

Do you mind telling me how much that was please? Have the same problem and only live an hour's drive from the AS works, so would be interested.
I take it the new standard size adaptor is useful for charging a phone, but what else?

Re: Strange 12v socket on 1992 Trident
Hi
Sorry, I'm not quite sure how much it cost us I'm afraid as they fitted it when I had the seatbelts fitted and a couple of other little bits. The part itself was about £15.00 and they fitted it on next to the heater control on the cupboard and carpeted it at the rear the same as the heater control. Useful for kids DVD players, running little led lantern at night. We bought a second adaptor that plugs into the new socket that has a USB adaptor as well. Found it very useful on our recent trip, especially when you have kids!
