Reversing Camera
When I bought my 2017 Symbol recently I was disappointed to find in stead of a proper reversing camera it merely had an Avtex Tourer 1 sat nav with camera (Made by Garmin). The image is very poor and I was wondering what upgrades people would recommend. I do have an Avtex Tourer 2, latest model, left from my previous caravan days. Would this be a worthwhile upgrade to the Tourer 1 and would the camera work with it ?
Many thanks. Bill

Re: Reversing Camera
We had the same, Bill. I suspect the problem lies with the rear camera rather than the viewing screen.

I 'upgraded' the BC30 camera mine came with to the BC40. Image is better though not brilliant and is battery powered and only clipped in place so vulnerable to theft. Still looking for a good powered upgradeTinwheeler wrote:We had the same, Bill. I suspect the problem lies with the rear camera rather than the viewing screen.

The picture on ours was so dark it was useless and was like it from new.jon-hawkins wrote:I 'upgraded' the BC30 camera mine came with to the BC40. It was cured by changing the van

Re: Reversing Camera
I see that Garmin have recently announced a BC50 reversing camera but again it is expensive and looks vulnerable to theft ! Hi Ian, can you clarify which kit this is and where it came from, please?IanH wrote:An alternative solution

Go to Members Factsheets, Executive new project, then page 2 of 3, it's all there!!
With the downward one I can reliably put the rear ladder 1" from a wall.
Horizontal one is on all times engine is running, far superior to any rear view windscreen mounted mirror
This monitor is NOT a mirror when cameras off

I can confirm the BC30 camera works with both the Tourer One and the Tourer Two (as I upgraded mine a while back).
Can you describe what is "very poor" about the image quality?
If it's just cloudy, there's a fix for that over here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
