2011 Symbol: which fuse for water heater?
The water heater on our 2011 AutoSleeper Symbol isn’t working on EHU. Anyone any idea which fuse applies? None seem to be marked as such. Thanks for any advice.
Edit: I should have said that it’s a Whale water heater.
Handbook says:
1 Fridge
2 Front lights
3 Ignition supplies
4 Water pump/toilet
5 Ventilation fans
6 Rear lights
7 12v sockets/amplifier/entertainment
8 Permanent supply (radio/fridge)
9 Vehicle battery
10 Leisure battery
11 Heater/fan
12 Charger

If you have Truma Combi, then that's probably the heater/fan as the water heater and space heater are combined . Does the space heater work and not the water or are both not working, in which case you need to access the reset button on the heater itself and even the hard-to-get-at fuse on the combi.

Turn off the unit let if call off .have you bleed the air out if not this makes them cut out.some reset when cooled off and come back on but some you have to press the reset

There are switched spur boxes next to the mains unit, they have cartridge fuses next to the switches held in by a small screw, one is water heater.one air conditioner one heater.a bit fiddly to remove and check the fuse.ours were incorrectly marked IE heater was actually the water heater hope this helps

I see from your post on Fun that your symbol has Whale heating. Perhaps it would have helped us help you quicker if you had told us that.

Thanks for that - I did edit my original post when I realised. Sorry I’m rather untechnical; will try to do better in futurePaulmold wrote:I see from your post on Fun that your symbol has Whale heating. Perhaps it would have helped us help you quicker if you had told us that.

Thanks for that. Are they the three in my pic below?bobby b wrote:There are switched spur boxes next to the mains unit, they have cartridge fuses next to the switches held in by a small screw, one is water heater.one air conditioner one heater.a bit fiddly to remove and check thefuse.ours were incorrectly marked IE heater was actually the water heater hope this helps

If so, they are unfortunately unmarked but if red light is on on each does that suggest the fuse is ok? (Apologies if that’s a silly question)

Yes that's the fuses, only trial and error will tell which as ours were marked but wrongly, agree lights suggest power to the switch

Thanks.bobby b wrote:Hello did you manage to trace the fault
No - I’m a bit afraid of messing something else up if I mess around with the fuses and water heating is working fine on gas.
We’re away just now but back home tomorrow so I will try your suggestions then.
I have a feeling it is the element . . .
When we get it sorted I’ll update on this thread in case it helps anyone else.

Re: 2011 Symbol: which fuse for water heater?
Thanks so much for your help for your help - I naively thought when I’d taken out the (10amp) fuse from one of the spur boxes that they’d all be the same. Didn’t have any so ordered some. On changing them today I find top one is 5amp, bottom left 10amp, bottom right 13amp.bobby b wrote:Hello did you manage to trace the fault
Changed them all and . . . hey presto . . . water heater all working OK now!
I rather assumed that as all three lights were ‘on’ and lit that it wouldn’t be any of those fuses. Handy lesson to learn.
Hope this might help someone else with similar problem.
I’m just awaiting a response from Autosleeper to advise which spur box serves what so that I can mark them for future and confirmation that fuses as they stand are correct amp. Unfortunately nothing in the handbook (that I can interpret) to help.
