Soft Close sliding door
I see that the Malibu van conversions all have as standard a mechanical self closing mechanism which means no more slamming noisy door closures. I can find no mention online about a retrofit option other than expensive electric conversions. Anyone heard of a company who offers this?

Not cheap.
cheapest option is do what others do.
When closing sliding door whilst outside , open passenger door slightly first, glide sliding door shut then close passenger door.
When indoors open small front roof vent first then shut sliding door.
These two methods stop the pressure effect of the interior, needing the door to be slammed shut to counter it.

Re: Soft Close sliding door
That's a complete sliding door system. The OP is after a soft-close system which is simpler - it only does the final closing movement, and not the entire motion of the door.Fontie wrote:Not cheapĀ
I don't know the options on a Ducato, but VW offer a similar system on the T5/T6 and it just replaces the latch post on the van with a motorised cam.
However... the problem with the T5/T6 (and probably the Ducato) is that they don't include the wiring in the factory wiring loom if you don't buy the option when the van is new. So in addition to the soft-close module, you need the anti-trap sensors and all of the wiring to be added. So although simpler, it still won't be cheap!

Thankyou for your thoughts. Yes I have seen the modifiers electric option which is overkill for what I want. Babian thankyou for your suggestion and as We haven’t yet taken delivery this may be all that I want. Just don’t want to be disturbing peace of others.

I always close mine using the palm of my hand on the rear edge, nowhere near as much noise and a lot easier.
