Trooper sliding door Empty Trooper sliding door

Post by sinky1 Sat 19 Feb 2011 - 16:14

Hi all
A kind sole put me on to the forum
My T5 trooper sliding door has a habit of rubbing the side panel when opening. I have been told that it is possible to adjust the door runner to stop this.
Please Please does anyone have any information on this. All me panels are screwed in hard and it is only slightly rubbing on the white plastic blind part under the window.

Thanks Simon

Hi sinky1

I'm not sure but I would think there must be some adjustment thats possible, as you have a T5 I'm presuming it's quite a recent model? may I ask how old? might be worth just dropping an email to Auto-Sleeper for advice, or perhaps someone here will offer better advice than I can :(Y) or (y):

Hi Slinky

Most doors are adjustable so yes you should be able to get it sorted mate, sorry to hear AS never got back to you.
Might be worth calling them as I guess they get busy (not making excuses but often the ways with these companys)
Did you buy the trooper from new? or have you purchased it more recently?

ohh & welcome to the forum cheers!

Hi Sinky1

Any joy yet with getting this sorted out?

Just a thought, if you have a VW dealer or VW independant specialist local to you they should be able to advise, as the door adjustment is down to the actual vehicle, and hence the conversion carried out by Auto-Sleeper shouldn't really affect the operation of the door in anyway dunno

Hi Sinky

I spoke to AutoSleepers at the NEC show earlier this year because I had emailed them directly from their website but received no reply. They told me that emails sent from the site do not always get through. I would try typing in the email directly rather than using the web-site to direct it to them. Otherwise I have found their phone number, funny they don't show it on their web-site, or fix the problem with emails....

Here's the number - 01386 853338‏

I'm afraid AS do have a terrible reputation for not answering emails. It's a matter thats raised on other forums frequently, which is a pity because most companies conduct business electronically these days.

If the door is aligned properly when closed I think it's possible that if you adjust it for position when open it might not be right when closed. On my camper the door rubs on the plastic panel that covers where the rear window would be if fitted. The panel covers the vents behind the fridge etc. Is that what's happening with yours?

Having a look at a few Trooper photos I'm wondering if the door card has become distorted and bulging out. Some are made of hardboard and if it's taken up moisture thats what might have happened. Does it always do it?
