First simple mod of the year
Goodbye, fairly useless, space consuming plate rack! You won’t be missed.
First habitation service completed yesterday by mobile independent technician, no issues identified other than the EC700 screen is slightly loose at the top if you push it. I’m very gentle with it so it hasn’t been an issue for me, but we’ll have to keep an eye on that.

Plate rack removed about a week after we got our Symbol. Stored away with a load of other stuff in the house. Space is far too precious to waste in our little Symbols!

Am not surprised. We are on our 3rd A-S van and in each one have removed the plate rack they fitted and replaced with our own.
This is a problem when vans are designed by AutoCad and are not tested out by experienced users

The plate and mug racks never made it into our Lancashire. When I ordered I asked for them to be supplied but NOT fitted "as we want to decide where to fit them". We found better!

Your discarded plate rack, what does this abomination look like?
Our Kemerton XL didn't come with any plate rack so I bought a Purvario rack that now sits in a cupboard above our sink. I didn't need all their bits to accommodate our plates and bowls. The plates fit in well enough though they rattle a bit when we're on the road, a bit of foam padding from me would help.

What A-S did supply us with were 4 small faux cut glass wine glasses, held in place with some Terry clips that we have yet to use. Eating outside we use some fancy polycarbonate plastic wine glasses that wont break if knocked on the ground. Inside we have our own wine glasses which are more wine glassy than the sherry size of glass A-S supplied,

Ditched the plate rack after the first day out, waste of space and creates great rattles. Also moved one of the wine holders to under sink cupboard, ditched the other, the locker by the door is much more useful for hammer, tent pegs and dirty boots.
Why do AS insist on selling the single bed option short on the offside? Swivel the drivers seat 180 deg put the double bed infill cushions under the bench cushion and you have a 6’4” single bed. Works a treat.

Yes, did similar with our locker by the side door -Mr Whippy 99 wrote:Ditched the plate rack after the first day out, waste of space and creates great rattles. Interesting idea about the offside bed. We don't normally carry all the infill cushions but just use the two single beds - nearside as designed and the offside with the extending base partly pulled out to make it a wider bed than normal. This still leaves sufficient room between the two beds to get to the back of the van without hindrance during the night. Usually, when we arrive on site we push the driver's seat forward, slot in the extending bed board so that saves messing about later when making up the beds and use the back of the driver's seat as a backrest for whoever is lounging on the bench seat. The passenger seat is usually swivelled around straightaway and that's us set up. Only the bedding to lay out when that time comes. The hybrid table uses a shortened chrome leg in the raised floor fitting and two folding/height adjustable legs on the other end of the table - making it more stable, and it is easy to swivel the table on the leg, out of the way, to get in and out of the side door easily.
The big freestanding AS table was never used and removed but we do carry a Kampa Dometic Zero medium size table for use outside (could be used inside as well probably). Very pleased with this - lightweight but stable.
