Chatsworth CAMHC site access for XLWB van Empty Chatsworth CAMHC site access for XLWB van

Was looking at going to stay at Chatsworth in Derbyshire, however the notes regarding access to the site mention a problem for vehicles with a wheelbase of 4.5mts or above or less than 200mm ground clearance. I would imagine that excludes a lot of motorhome. Has anyone experience of accessed the site in a van conversion, I suspect our XLWB Peugeot has less than 200mm ground clearance under the fresh water tank, and didn’t want to find out it’s a problem in the dark at 7.30pm with no options.

We stayed there 4 weeks ago and didn't notice any access problems but we have a short wheelbase.  If you are concerned, I suggest you ring them 01246 582226.

I had no problems staying at the CAMC site at Chatsworth with our Kemerton XL.

All I can find on the CAMC website is:

'Please note that the bridge at site entrance has 5-ton weight limit.'

I've just found it on the CAMC sites App but it's odd its not repeated in the website description or the handbook.

Been in a Warwick Duo recently and not noticed anything amiss. It's true the access road is quite long and narrow, hence the requirements to leave early and arrive late(ish), so as to avoid awkward reversing situations.

The bridge by the entrance is the issue. Risk of grounding as you go over it.

I went there (2019) in my LWB Warwick Duo with no issue.

don't XLWB and LWB have the same wheelbase?
Yes (4.035m) I just checked in the Peugeot Boxer manual.

Just checked the manuals.  The wheelbases of all A-S campervans and motorhomes are below 4.5 m.  (Nuevo 3 m to Burford Duo 4.325 m).  The 5 T bridge limit may only be a problem for some of those who tow cars and if it is they can separate the car from the van and drive the car across the bridge.
