Leak when pump operates
My 2021 Broadway has not been used since September and January owing to illness.
Now, when I switch on the pump on the panel, water pours on to the ground from a tube in the base of the van. The water seems to come from a T-piece next to the pump. Water does flow out of the tap normally at the same time.
Can anyone explain this or suggest a fix? Many thanks in advance.

No, the water was not drained, there was no time.
The drain is closed.
It’s a Truma combi heating system.

Its the auto drain on boiler water. Reset the valve, its above where the water comes out.
Why dont they fit a drain tube on outlet instead og water just pouring out all over underside.

Has the drain point opened by its self because of a low temperature and needs resetting

Thanks, Richard and Glynn. I don’t understand how to reset a valve.

Re: Leak when pump operates
this should have been shown to you on the hand over
you will read it being said on the forum to turn off the pump at night and when away from your van as this valve can open in cold conditions by its self
it sounds like this could be your problem and was why I asked what heater you had
I have had mine open at night but was in ice cold condition and is why I always turn off the pump at night hope this sorts your problem

Sounds as though you had a lucky escape in that the frost dump valve did what it's supposed to do. Had it not tripped the water heater could have been damaged. However, I wouldn't rely on it working every time. Not everyone does this but as a matter of course I always drain down the system after a trip - summer and winter. I usually do it on the way home. It's also necessary to open all the taps and leave them open so the water can drain out of the pipes and drop the shower rose. The dump valve won't do this for you. The benefits of draining down after every trip are no risk of freezing and you start every trip with completely fresh water. My trips are usually several weeks apart.DavidinDevon wrote:Thanks for your reply.glyne lock wrote:did you drain the water out the system

Re: Leak when pump operates
For people like us who use our vans once or twice every week for day trips this seems too much a waste of water. The dump valve on our new van (not A/S) empties the under seat hot water tank but not the cold which is also inside. I would only empty this if it got really frosty.
I do know the perils of leaving water in the system. About 15 years ago I forgot to fully drain a caravan and had to buy a new shower tap, which cost about £100.
