Gas leak
When I connect my Cadac to my external socket it leaks. Should the tail have an O ring?
The complete gas tap assy has already been replaced but leaks.

Re: Gas leak
Sorry, can't help with your query but have a question about the external gas point so thought rather than starting another post I'd tag onto yours. The red tap on the external gas point our Broadway is horizontal. Not having used it, and unlikely to use it in future we want to make sure it is in the off position and can't find anything in the manual to answer this. Thanks for any help.

If it is in horizontal position that is OFF, all the other gas taps should be the same, have you checked those.?

If it was mine I would get it checked out by a registered gas fitter. gas leaks are dangerous.

I've not yet used the BBQ point. However, the male connector which fits into it does not have an O ring.
I am therefore following this thread with concern. We've bought a Cadac and i hope to try it out soon.

When you get your Cadac fired up, you will be delighted, we had our first BBQ last week.

Re: Gas leak
In short - no - the tail just has a machined profile and when pushed into the male outlet/socket it should self seal. It must be pushed hard into the socket such that it locks into position and can only be released by pushing the outer locking ring on the socket forward.BDH wrote:When I connect my Cadac to my external socket it leaks. I would imaging there is an internal "O" ring within the socket assembly which provides the seal.
If you still have a have a leak in the gas tap/outlet assembly then I would take it back to the dealer.

Re: Gas leak
Mine leaked when I first connected our bbq and it was the hose connected to the tail piece, I tightened the hose clamp and all was fixed, I also thought it was the fitting but I sprayed with gas leak detector and it showed the hose leaking.

Re: Gas leak
The various 'bits' that came with our used van included what you describe as a tail for the external BBQ point. It is still in it's display packaging 'Woodcroft Accessories' J462 BBQ Nozzle Old Type. Not sure if it was supplied by A/S or purchased by previous owner. Can confirm it does not have an. O ring and as Liam states it simply pushes in and readily springs out when the braided outer locking ring is pulledforward. Yes the red tap is in the horizontal position indicating gas is turned off. To date have not turned on the red tap to test if the gas readily escapes or will only do so with the tail/nozzle in situ.

Re: Gas leak
Daisymae, thanks for reply about gas point tap. The red taps inside(in the wardrobe) are vertical for off, which is why I wondered about the external one. Thanks again, H.
