Boxer rear springs
Am I correct in reading that the latest Boxer has twin leaf rear springs?
Has anyone changed their springs, as I would think it may do away with the farm cart ride?
I would think that Peugeot have thought the same and updated the suspension.

Certainly the latest XL models have twin springs, not sure about the Duos.

Re: Boxer rear springs
The coachbuilts, or more specifically my coachbuilt, appear to have twin leaf rear springs. This is probably because their rear axles are further forward than the PCVs and therefore have a higher loading. Overtime leaf springs sag, especially if they are under a permanent heavy load like a motorhome. A solution is to fit inflatable spring assisters.

to make the ride better you have full air suspension on vans trucks
the springs fitted to a van are down to the plated axle weight
the modern springs don't have as much problems as the old multi leaf springs did (ref)
cracks and sagging
the xl vans can be put from 3.5 to 4.5 ton with out any up grade required to the springs brakes

Thanks Glyne, I think I will play around with the pressure in the air suspension. I have them set at 2 at the moment. Most roads are fine, just local roads, why do they have to put manholes in the road?glyne lock wrote:Richard

Re: Boxer rear springs
I know I am not technically minded, but see below photo I have just taken of rear nearside springs on my 2014 WXL, is this classed as a single spring as it looks like a double to me?
Are Autosleeper now promoting something that has been standard for over a decade or is my WXL atypical?

I reckon its a double which is what I have on my coachbuilt but I stand to be corrected.

Re: Boxer rear springs
My 2011 Symbol weighing in at 3300 has double rear springs and air suspension and I am convinced that I read at the time that the double rear springs was the standard configuration.

Re: Boxer rear springs
I have had 2 Kinghams and a Trigano over the years and have always got the axle weights loaded then emailed the tyre manufacture with all the tyre info and have been given the correct pressures for that weight. With my present Kingham I am running 3 bar front and 4 bar rear, the van is plated at 4000kg and fully loaded about 3850kg with 2 bar in the air ride. All 3 vans have had Continental tyres fitted and they are very helpful to give the correct pressures for the axle weights. This improves the ride no end. This could be a problem with some of the very latest vans fitted tyre pressure monitoring systems mine is 2021 Fiat and hasn't got TPS but I think the new Peugeots have. It worked ok on a friends 2019 Peugeot.
