VW T4 Trident rear springs
My newly acquired camper has a slight lean (about 5cm measured at the wheel arch) and the MOT mentioned "corroded springs" in the advisory secton. looking on online there appears to be several options for springs. Does anybody know if auto-sleeper left them as standard 800-1000Kg load rating or fitted heavy duty 1200Kg springs so I can be sure of ordering the correct ones.

Re: VW T4 Trident rear springs
I think VW classified suspension parts by colour coding to identify the load ratings.
If it helps my Tridents rear springs have a brown jab of paint on them, but I can't for the life of me remember what rating that was .
I think I found it on the VW T4 forum.

Have you checked the front torsion bars are adjusted equally?. If the previous owner had had a go at lowering it and bodged it that would cause a lean. Also what condition are your rear shocks? again one that has given up the ghost would cause a lean.
You may have already checked these things, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Re: VW T4 Trident rear springs
Thanks for the reply finbar, just been on vw heritage web site they list a 800kg spring with a white marker and a 1200kg spring with a pink marker or yellow marker but no mention of a brown marker. Anybody know what it equates. Cheers Andy

A little more info I found. However I sure the Trident is based on the Kombi not the caravelle.
Genuine VW (Caravelle - 1996, 2xbrown spots - heavy duty
No pics.
Coils - 6.75
Ends - 10mm
Thickest part - 17.9mm
Overall height - 270mm

Trident 40mm lowering springs
Hi
Sorry if i am hijacking the thread just wondered if anyone has any recommendations for lowering my 1993 Trident by 40mm
i believe eibach may be the ones to go for but the load ratings as youve described above has thrown me a bit?
Has anyone lowered theirs?
Thanks

Just to help with the loadings, I weighed my 1996 trident 2.4 diesel the other day.
Loaded up as we would normally travel
Gross weight 2150 kg
Front Axle 1160 kg
Rear Axle 990 kg
