Normal service has resumed
Enough of this festive jollity, that is the Christmas Tree down, sawn into little bits and put in the gardening recycling bin for uplift when collections start by Council in February. Have a good technique now where I cover the tree with an old king size duvet cover which lets me remove it without dropping needles all through the house.
After lunch it will be a trip to the attic with all the tinsel baubles and lights then can get the corner of the lounge where the tree was back as a dumping ground until next December.

Took all our stuff down on Thursday. Don't have a real tree but for others it may be worth noting that a garden centre local to us is offering a 20% discount voucher in exchange for your real tree, may be worth seeing if any near you are offering anything similar.

Just brought in all the exterior guttering Christmas lights, cleaned and boxed, just some small delicate lights to box up for next year.
No Christmas trees as our rooms are small.
All away till next year.
Have a good day.

No problem for us as we were away over Christmas in vans.....no tree put up at all this year at home, simple. Decorations in daughters awning put up Christmas Eve (by the children) just like it used to be when Christmas started in late December (do you remember that?)
Saying that we have a small Christmas wreath in the living room which every January we forget to take down, so it stays up all year.

Decorations down. Humbug! Still celebrating down here until 12th night. Well in truth the grandchildren are over on Wednesday so we will be getting them to do a lot of it. They are still of an age when they like helping.

Re: Normal service has resumed
Last year we bought a 4ft rooted tree in a large pot. Since we took it outside into the garden 11 months ago it's now grown a foot in height and two foot in width. So we though why not leave it there, decorate it and string up some outside LED's on it. It's looked very healthy throughout the festive season and has brought pleasure to the kids passing the front of the house, and no mess inside.
Still going to wait till 12th night before before the decorations come down, but the tree will continue to live outside.
Al.

We started taking the decorations down this afternoon. Muttly stood in the sitting room doorway with his head on one side watching us like he did when we put them up. He will have more room to stretch out once the tree has gone tomorrow.
