To service or not?
Fairly sure the Boxer is a 2yr service interval but we have done almost 10,000 miles in our first year of ownership - picked up new Sept 2022. Do I need to do anything for the well being of the van? Pretty sure the service schedule is every 2yrs and I’m sure if I ask the local Peugeot dealer they would be happy to take money off me?? Any thoughts welcomed from those more mechanically minded than I.

Re: To service or not?
Just checked o line, schedule is 2 years or 32000 miles, so I would do nothing, I get my van serviced every other year with similar milage to yours, however there are several members on here who advocate change of oil, oil filter etc every year irrespective of milage
Interesting What van says oil filer and air filter only need cha ged every four years unless 'arduous ' use.

Re: To service or not?
I don't care what manufacturers and dealers say about oil changes, the quality of modern oil and modern machining techniques. In my opinion it is rather ludicrous not to change the oil every year, irrespective of mileage, and especially so after the first year of use (we used to call it "running in"). I do that with all our cars and boats. A regular oil & filter change is very cheap, particularly if you intend keeping the vehicle for a while.
Also, bear in mind that the van is always almost fully loaded and by definition gets used in touristic places which often tend to be hilly. They also have rather small engines which work hard! I would suggest that this borders on arduous use!
I also think that for those motorhomes which stand idle all winter a regular oil change is even more desirable. The only debatable point there is whether to do it before the winter (to remove corrosive combustion by-products) or in the spring (to remove winter condensation).
For all my vehicles I use a local independent garage and (despite being an engineer myself) I ask them to give the vehicle a general look over underneath just to see if they spot anything else that needs attention.

Yes, Bargee that’s what we were thinking. We have a guy we use regularly and we might just do that before our trip to Spain in the Autumn. It shouldn’t affect the warranty as he’s a proper MOT type garage?? Never had a vehicle with a warranty before…
We really love our Kingham and the plan is to keep it.

I concur with the Bargee, I’ve used an independent garage that specialises in vans for the last twenty years and they have always recommended an oil change every year for the same reasons.

Re: To service or not?
Mine a bit older.
Does circa 6000mls per year
Had a cambelt when I got it, any vehicle new to me gets that anyway regardless of miles or history.
Each MOT gets oil and filter cx, also air and fuel filters..
Rest is checked on the MOT anyway, if any advisories they get done right away, irrespective of cost.
Net result is near perfect reliability, really don't want to be immersed in trivia with some problem in the far reaches of Europe which is the only place it is used.

Re: To service or not?
I do annual change, April every year.
There's a school of thought that it's better to change cheaper oil regularly than expensive oil rarely...I do the land Rover every 2000 miles, with motorway 20-50 for example. Never gets the chance to sludge up.

I also changed the oil and filter on the year one anniversary.
Then had the first service done by Peugeot on year two.

So long as you make sure they use the recommended Peugeot oil and OEM parts you should not affect the warranty.
Yes, we love our Kingham too. Proper little Tardis and nigh on perfect for us (but we do miss the superking bed we have at home!)
I am amazed that no other converters (that I could find) seem to offer a similar layout. In terms of the interior layout our only planned mod is to fit a curtain across at the front of the bed when I can persuade the admiral to get her sewing machine out.

Rang our local Peugeot dealer - £219 for oil and filter change!!!
Will contact our usual mechanic who I’m sure will come up with a better price…
